Reset Quiz Retries in Rise 360

Hi,

If I set a required passing score and limit the retries to 2, what happens if they don't pass the course in 3 tries? Can they never attempt to pass the course (quiz) again? Or is there a way to reset the number of tries?

I'm trying to avoid an unlimited number (or high number) of retries so they can't "brute force" their way through it by guessing over and over again. But, I also want the user to be able to try again at some point.

Edit: I'm currently using Showpad as the LMS, using the SCORM file exported from Rise. We are switching to Lessonly soon, so if there is a solution, I'd need one for both systems. Thanks again!

Thank you!

Dan

  • Hi there, Dan! Unless the LMS you're using can reset the learner's progress and/or clear their attempts at the course, the learners won't be able to complete the course if they've exhausted their retries without passing.

I'll defer to the community on whether Showpad or Lessonly have that option.

As Crystal said, some LMS's can reset the learner's progress, which will allow the student to retake the quiz again.

Our LMS does not have this functionality, so we would need to remove the student from the course, and reassign them. This however, will require the student to completely restart the course. For this reason our quizzes are set up to have unlimited tries.

I have set my Rise course to have 0 extra attempts and have a passing score of 80%. A passing score is not required to move on to the last page that prompts the learner to exit the course. My export settings are Passed/Failed. When I test the course, it will only communicate a grade when I pass the knowledge check. If I fail the course, the course remains incomplete and will not report to my LMS the failed grade. It remains "incomplete" and is on the learner's to-do list.

I have also changed the Rise export settings to be Passed/Incomplete and it does the same thing.

        How do we solve this?

Hi, I've just been asked to create a course with 2 attempts at the quiz, and to make people restart if they fail it twice. It appears that this cannot be done in RISE. I did even try to add a Storyline block that would do this, only to find that the block cannot restart the course either! I cannot believe that in 2025, we cannot have a 'restart' button when the 'maximum attempts' have been reached! Even an option to reset the course to start state would be better that forcing 'continue where you left off'. It's all very well having AI this and that added to Rise, but requests for this basic needed functionality are still being ignored, years after people asked for it. Please sort this Articulate.
