New Rise feature just released - Flashcards
Hey Everyone - we just released Flashcards to Rise. Check out this quick video overview. (Recorded with Peek and posted to Articulate Review, naturally.)

Flashcards are an awesome click-and-reveal interaction. I'm excited to see the creative ways you use them!

Very cool the flash cards! :)
Now if I can make some suggestions for them... :)
It would be nice to be able to...Front
- add text above or below the image (centered/aligned left/aligned right)Back
- center/align left/align right the text
- do paragraph (use of 'return')I attached an image to show you what I have in mind.
Thanks,
Thanks a ton for that feedback, Frederick.
Hi Christina!
I haven't heard of a limit of flashcards in the same block. I just did a quick test and added 120 cards to a block, and I could have added more!
The ability to randomize the order of cards is a really nifty idea! 💡 I'd love to pass that along to our team. Would you mind telling me a little more about why randomization would come in handy for you? What type of scenario would you use it in?
Thanks so much for letting us know how we can make things better!

Hi Alyssa,
Thank you for testing out whether there is a limit on the flash cards! I appreciate it and I'm glad to hear there isn't one. The randomization of the flashcards would come in handy for my organization because we are building a library of flashcards to be used by medical students to study for their board exams. So we're aiming to provide a learning tool that adds an interactive element to improve upon the previous format-- which was just many PDFs of charts, tables, and more charts and tables. If the cards were randomized, it would be a more engaging tool and it would allow for a fresh user experience every time they returned to study the flashcards. So it's not completely necessary for this to work, but it would be a nice feature to consider in the future. I am very happy with the prospect of being able to use Rise for this project!
Thanks again,

Hi Alyssa,
We're also appreciating the flash card interaction at my company--great job! I wanted to note that, as Christina mentioned, we would also love to see a "randomize" option for the flash cards. One way we'd use it is for vocabulary terms. In one resource ("course") we have 12 sections ("lessons"), and there are 25+ terms for each section. It would be great if each time a student did the flash cards for a given section, the cards were in a different order.

Hi - just wondered if I can change the order of the flashcards within a stack? I do not see how to do this under the edit function?
- LindseyGumbCommunity Member
Very cool function, but I'm still seeing the "Coming Soon" notice on mine!
Hmm, that's odd, Lindsey.
Can you try 2 things for me and let me know what happens:
1) Open the blocks sidebar and then refresh the page. See if that clears "Coming Soon"
2) If #1 doesn't help, can you log out and log back into Rise. (Click your avatar in the upper-right.)
Can you report back and let me know the results?

That worked – thanks, Adam! It’s still early, and I haven’t had any coffee yet. I should have just tried that in the first place ☺

Hi, Adam and Articulate team! I am using images with a transparent background with the flashcards, but I am getting a white block around the image. It just doesn't look as good as if the image were transparent. Do you know why this is happening? I am attaching a picture of what I see. I would prefer to have the image float in the center of the tile with no background.
Also, I concur with Frederick that having the option to include text above and below images would be useful in some cases. Also, in the case with music and language learning, audio would also be a nice enhancement, but I am sure it is down the road if you decide to implement this feature.
Thanks for the feedback, Anthony. Right now we don't have support for transparent backgrounds. But we'll put it on the board for evaluation.
In the meantime, change the background of that image before you upload to hex color #FAFAFA if you're placing it on the back of the card. (If you're placing it on the front, it will look fine already.)
Hey Anthony - just wanted to let you know we added PNG transparency support.

Nice! Flashcards are always such a great way to learn.

Hi. Tried to add a URL onto the back of the card but in Preview it flips the card over and doesn't open the URL. Is this possible, going to be possible, or should the URLbe added in a particular format?

We have also noticed this problem when the Flashcard Grid is presented on a mobile device. There, right-clicking isn't an option. Are there any other workarounds that have been found?
- ChetHertzCommunity Member
Since a click flips the flashcard, the modest workaround I have employed to open a hyperlink from flashcard is to rightclick it and specify "open link in new tab/window". Not "do-what-I-mean" ideal, but easy enough given that presumably we actually do like the card flip.

Flashcard blocks look really cool, Adam!
Thanks Montse! You're always so creative so I'm looking forward to seeing them in action from you.
We've all been there Lindsey, no worries. :)
