Audio over images

When audio is added to an image, it currently overlays the image content.

Please add an automatic option to create additional space below the image for the audio controls, rather than placing them on top of the image. This would eliminate the need for manual image resizing, it will save a lot of time, and improve the overall user experience.

Thank you

  • Hello rdesorte,

Thanks for sharing this! I understand that when you add audio to an image in your course, the controls land on top of the image content. You’d like a feature that automatically adds space below the image, so you don’t have to adjust your images yourself.

I’d like to learn a bit more about how this plays out for you:

    • About how much time does adjusting your images add across a typical course?
    • What typically gets covered by the controls, and how does that impact the way learners see the image?

Hearing how this works in your day-to-day helps us understand your perspective. If more comes to mind, we’d love to hear it!

Hi, thank you for reaching out,

For example, I’m currently working on a course that includes a mix of AI-generated images and images I create myself to demonstrate systems and processes.

When developing a course, I create all content and images first. Once the content is approved, I go back and add the audio. While I can design an image with extra space at the bottom from the beginning, I usually don't know whether that image will be the final version. To avoid spending time making layout adjustments before they're needed, I often wait until the course is finalized.

A helpful enhancement in Rise would be the ability to attach audio below an image rather than placing it on top of the image. This would save significant time by eliminating the need to revisit each image, locate the original file in Snagit, add additional space for the audio player, and then re-save and replace the image throughout the course.

To answer your next question: What gets covered is the bottom portion of the image, which is often where key information is located. For many of the images I create to demonstrate a system or process, the audio player sits directly on top of the image and can block important details that learners need to see.

As a result, learners may miss critical information or steps that the image is intended to highlight. While adding audio is a great feature, having the audio overlay the image is not always practical. This issue impacts both custom-created images and AI-generated images, including the examples I provided in my original email.

Allowing the audio player to display below the image, rather than on top of it, would improve the learner experience and eliminate the need to redesign or resize images just to accommodate the audio controls.  I'll add the images again so you can see

This last one I  had to re do to give space at the bottom for the audio so the whole image is visible to the user.   Let me know your thoughts, thank you!

I also have one more quick suggestion, maybe prompt a message, are you sure you want to delete this? once the trash can is clicked on, before the system deletes it.  I've had several mini heart-attacks because I click on the trashcan by mistake and I run to try to save my work with the undo. :)  thank you

      Hello rdesorte,

Thank you so much for the thorough follow-up and the example images! They really help us picture what you’re working with. I understand that adding audio after your content is approved means reopening each image in Snagit to add space, and that the audio player can cover key details at the bottom of your process images. You’d also like a confirmation prompt after clicking the trash can, so an accidental click doesn’t send you scrambling for undo.

We can’t promise a specific outcome, but your details help us understand what you’re working with. If more comes up, we’d be happy to learn more!

ok thank you.  Here is another example of one image I created that when adding audio it covers the content of the image.

        Hi rdesorte,

Thanks for sharing those examples and showing how much space you add at the bottom of your images! It’s helpful to see what this looks like in your course. We appreciate you taking the time to walk us through it.
