Forced Alignment of Voiceovers

Much of a developer's time is spent in review. Voiceovers are tedious for most to listen to critically. Some issues only found after on the LMS.  There are methods to run the audio through a speech to text programs and compare that transcript to the original, flagging any mismatches.  Having this built-in would be a game-changer.

Right now, extracting the audio en masse is not easy, as it has to be done manually or through using Python after publishing. The issue is that the audio files have arbitrary names and no corrolation to the slide/layer. Python can analyse the meta data and create a table to match the items.  clunky at best.

Ideas? Can an API to forced alignment tools be incorporated into SL or Rise?

  • Hi TravisBaits1!

Thank you for providing such detailed feedback!

I understand you’re describing a workflow challenge with reviewing narrated content. Particularly, the need to verify that recorded voice-overs match the original script, and to manage or extract audio files in a more organized way. I definitely see how this could improve your authoring experience.

Currently, this level of functionality is not supported by Storyline or Rise. I'm happy to submit these as feature requests on your behalf.

We'll be sure to notify you if we release a future enhancement that helps!
