Hi, I'm Ekaterina
Hi everyone!
My name is Ekaterina, and I'm currently based in Vancouver, Canada.
I work as a courseware developer in the aviation industry ✈️ (I help create e-learning courses for pilots), which is how I first discovered Articulate Storyline and started using it about three years ago.
Since then, I’ve learned a lot through my work projects, but I’ve also become curious to explore more advanced features and creative possibilities. That’s why I joined this community—to keep learning and share what I’ve discovered along the way.
My background is in Fine Arts (I hold a BFA in Print Media), and I occasionally teach art classes for kids. I try to bring a strong design element into the courses I create, thinking of them as holistic projects where visuals, UI, and content come together seamlessly. I'm especially interested in gamification, and I've created a few small games in Articulate using different visual styles.
On the personal side, my family includes my husband, our three little kids, and two cats: 👨👩👧👦👧🐈🐈

Ekaterina_V I'm so happy to see you introducing yourself, but surprised to see you tag yourself newbie!! I always get excited when I see you posting an example because the stuff you share is always so playful and fun, I love the way you approach visuals in your examples (which I guess makes sense since you're sharing you have taught art classes for kids!).
I had no idea you created courses for the aviation industry, that's so fascinating. Do you work with one particular airline, or how does that all work?- Ekaterina_VCommunity Member
Hi Noele_Flowers ,
Thank you! 😊
I still consider myself a bit of a newbie—with about 3 years of experience in Articulate, compared to the 10+ years some folks here have! 😄As for my current role, I work at CAE Inc., an international company specializing in aviation simulation. It was founded in Montreal in 1947 and still has its headquarters there. We create internal training for various airlines, operators, and manufacturers—including Bombardier and Boeing. ✈️
When I first started here and chatted with a bunch of community members, it was so funny to me how many people would say "I'm sort of a beginner," but then it turned out they had been working in Storyline for 3, 5, 10 years!
I am a true beginner (been here for less than a year and my job isn't focussed entirely on building in Storyline, so I am building my skills more slowly than someone who works in SL every day), so to me, all of these people, including you, have extremely impressive skills :)
I'm glad you introduced yourself Ekaterina_V! I've seen you post some really awesome examples already, but it's fun to learn more about you and the work you do in your day-to-day (which also sounds very cool, btw).

Hi Katie!
Thank you so much for your kind words 🙂
By the way, your fur babies are absolutely adorable! I read your introduction post and loved learning about them.

Welcome to E-Learning Heroes, Ekaterina_V ! Creating e-learning for pilots sounds fascinating. I do a lot of e-learning for the travel industry. What types of pilot training courses to you build?
Your background in visual design gives you a big advantage in e-learning. Articulate posted a weekly e-learning challenge around airline safety cards you might be interested in. That's an older challenge but seems like something you might have some creative ideas around.
E-learning heroes has an active examples section where you can post and share your own work. It's a good way to connect with other community members while showing what your work.

Hi Montsea , pleasure to meet you too!
I had a look at your e-learning portfolio—it's amazing!
I work in a large corporation, so I’ve been involved in both CBT and ILT projects, including Initial and Recurrent training, as part of our courseware development team. The courses we build follow a strict, approved template and set standards, so there’s not much room for creativity there.
Thanks for the link to the Airline Safety Cards Challenge! But I think I’ll take a little break from aviation for now 😄—I get plenty of that at work!
I’ve already shared all my examples in the community and received some lovely feedback. I’ll definitely keep posting whenever I have something new to show!
