Hello, I am hoping someone can help me with a playability message when uploading a Storyline SCORM to our LMS (Blackboard Ultra). A few of our SCORMs, zipped .story files, are giving the message: “Some issues were found with this course which may affect playability”. Some of the modules that did have this message were remedy by coping the film into a new project or uploading from a different browser. However, I have 7 modules that still have that message. I have tried all the ways I can think of to remedy these modules. My LMS teams said it is a Storyline issue and not an LMS (Blackboard) issue. I am not sure where to look in Storyline to remedy this issue. I have checked triggers and links. Nothing seems out of place. Thank you.Solved48Views0likes12CommentsFinally Upgraded
Hello there. My name is Susie Arce and I work as a Training and Development Manager within Human Resources in higher education. I have used Storyline 3 for ages, even when it wasn't supported anymore. Today I finally got the upgrade to Storyline 360. Happy to join this community to learn the features of 360 and to connect and network.15Views1like1CommentAspiring E-Learning Designer
Hello community, my name is Reggie and I’m based in London, UK. I come from a teaching background and over the last few years I’ve developed a strong interest in e-learning and instructional design. I’m still learning and currently building my portfolio through voluntary work and personal projects using Articulate Storyline and other tools. My teaching experience helps me understand learners and how to make learning clear and engaging. I joined the E-Learning Heroes community mainly to learn from others, improve my e-learning design and Storyline skills, get new ideas and continue building a strong portfolio as I work towards moving into e-learning and instructional design.8Views1like1CommentText to Speech problems
Hi there I don't know what's happened in some of my Articulate 360 eLearnings but when I go to edit the Text to Speech text on a slide it's showing me text from the previous slide, although it previews the correct text. I'm very confused :( This has also happened to a colleague so it's not just my pc or work. I'm using the latest version. Any thoughts on what's going on would be much appreciated :) Thank you.27Views0likes3CommentsAn eLearning Course May Be Teaching More Than You Intended
After many years in instructional design and eLearning, I’ve come to question something we often take for granted about learning. We tend to think of it in simple terms: The learner learned it. The learner didn’t. The course worked. The course failed. But I don’t think learning works that way. People always learn something. The more important question is: What are they learning? Consider a poorly designed eLearning course. An employee attends a course because they genuinely want to learn. But the content is difficult to follow, the activities feel disconnected, and the experience becomes frustrating. The course doesn’t help with the problems they actually face at work. We might conclude that the learner simply didn’t get much out of it. But they may have learned something very different from what we intended: “I could have spent this time getting my work done.” Or “eLearning is a waste of time.” That is still learning. It’s just not the learning outcome we intended. And if that happens repeatedly, something else happens. We spend a great deal of effort trying to motivate learners, get them interested, and hook them into the learning experience. But several poor learning experiences can work in the opposite direction. Learners may become more guarded and less receptive, even when they are later required to learn. There is an interesting example in Taiwan. The government has invested heavily in eLearning for public servants, offering a large number of courses across different topics and allowing employees to choose based on their needs and interests. There are many good courses among them, but the quality is mixed. In 2018, a proposal was submitted on Taiwan’s Public Policy Participation Platform calling for the abolition of the eLearning program for public servants. One of the complaints was that requiring 20 to 40 hours of eLearning each year was a waste of time with little effect. The proposal received nearly 8,000 endorsements in just three days. What interests me is not whether the program was good or bad. It’s this: If people repeatedly experience learning that feels ineffective, what are they learning about learning itself? Maybe: “This isn’t worth my time.” And that may be a bigger problem than one ineffective course. A poor course doesn’t simply fail to teach what we intended. It may teach learners to distrust the learning experience itself. So perhaps we need to ask a different question when we talk about learning effectiveness: Not just, “Did they learn what we wanted them to learn?” But: “What else did they learn from the experience?”19Views2likes0CommentsCorrupt storyline file
I had a finished project—complete with audio, animations, etc.—and tried uploading it to Review 360 to share it, but error messages started appearing indicating file damage or corruption; I exited the program after saving my changes (a big mistake), and now I can't reopen it. I tried importing the slides and looking for temporary files (something that had worked for me in the past), but it didn't help. I’ve already opened a support case, but I’m sharing the issue here as well, just in case. P.S. I usually keep backups, but I didn't have one for today's version.45Views0likes2CommentsText Won't Appear - What Next?
Hi, I am running into a real mystery with this project. I have a text entry field on slide 2.15. When I type into the text entry field in Slide View, the text appears in the field. But when I run through the whole scene in Scene View, I type on this slide and the text won't appear. If I put a button on the first slide and jump to slide 2.15 in Scene View, it still works. The issue only occurs if I go through all of the slides to get to 2.15. I feel like there might be something on a previous slide corrupting slide 2.15, maybe one of the codes? *Note: you only need to view Scene 2 for this issue. *Note: The audio is not finished.SolvedID Toolbox
Practical tools for e-learning developers… Over the past several months I've built a set of browser tools for the bits of Storyline and Rise that used to cost me hours. Eleven of them, all completely free, no signup, no accounts, nothing to install. They run entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded anywhere, which for me was the whole point, I wasn't keen on posting client content to a website just to check something… ID Toolbox109Views7likes3CommentsWhere did my Custom Colors go?
We have a handful of colors that we use on text for special circumstances. There was no reason to set up a theme, because the drop-down (when changing the color of text) included a section for Custom Colors (along with Theme Colors, Project Colors, and Standard Colors). We've used these for over a decade. Today, I went to use a Custom Color, and that whole section (along with all the work we put into choosing those colors) is GONE! What happened?71Views0likes3Comments
