I am able to edit the "correct/incorrect answer" dialog box in the Feedback master view. But I am unable to edit the "Invalid answer" dialog box. Please see the image below. Can anyone show me where to edit this "invalid answer" dialog box?
I know this is an old post, but I encountered the same issue this week.
Particularly for drop and match question, I can't make the customized layer to show when learners don't select the answer. I would submit my feature request, but does anyone get better solution for Drop and match type of question with this layer issue?
Hi Jeanette, thanks for the video on how to create customised 'Invalid Answer' for the radio button (Pick One) quiz. I tried the same method on the 'Pick Many' quiz (check boxes) but it is not working as it should. Can you show me how it can be done for 'Pick Many'?
That reply was quite a while back, so I'm not sure that Jeanette is still subscribed to help you out.
Would you be able to share the .story file you are working on so that someone in the community would be able to take a peek and help you out with this?
Hello Nicky, how did you do it? On mine, when the learner clicks Ok to that Invalid Answer, You Must Select Something pop up message, it triggers both the correct and incorrect audio files I associated with the correct and incorrect layers. I want the learner to be returned to the Quiz (with no audio files playing) so he can select an answer and then submit.
I am using a "Match" question type (in Storyline 360), where users must drag items to the left. If I use the built-in "Invalid Answer" layer, all of the text-to-speech items from the other layers all play at once, when the OK button is pressed. What can I do without sacrificing media for the "Correct", "Incorrect", etc. layers?
I tried to create a custom "Invalid Layer". However, I don't know variables and I can't set the conditions properly.
Hi Christopher, really sorry you ran into that issue!
We have this problem documented so we can investigate a fix. For now, the workaround will be to add a trigger to play media (audio) when the timeline begins on the Correct/Incorrect layers. Let me know if that works for you!
I'll add this discussion to our report so we can update you right here.
How do you modify the action of the Invalid Answer feedback? Mine is jumping to the next slide and allowing the participant to skip over the question entirely! I know that I can format the look of the Invalid Answer, but how to I change the functionality?
Hi there, Sandra. The invalid answer feedback works behind the scenes, and there isn't access to the trigger attached to the "Ok" button that appears.
Is this happening on every question?
If it's happening on only one question slide, what are the triggers and slide properties for that slide? Feel free to attach some screenshots of these areas.
If you'd like to attach your file for me to test, I'm happy to have a look! With your permission, I'd investigate what's happening. You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.
You can bypass seeing this Invalid Answer screen at all Sandra.
I disliked it so much, for a couple of reasons (1. that it's pretty ugly, and 2. that you can't fully customise it to fit in with your design) that I've implemented a workaround so I NEVER see it again!
I use a custom "Submit" button, with an initial "Hidden" state - so the learner can't progress until they've selected an answer, at which point a trigger changes the state of the custom Submit button to "Normal".
I also dislike the Resume screen - but I just change the setting in the Player and haven't even looked at whether this can be customised or not...
You can see a live example of how I've modified this functionality here where you can also download the free template and see how I've put this together.
Thank you very much. Bypassing is OK - but i would like to present a feedback "please answer this question" but in my design ... (without this hard coded one from Articulate" at the meoment i have both ...
The way I bypass the Invalid answer prompt is by using a variable linked to the states of whatever buttons or boxes I use for questions.
Show [custom] layer "Invalid Answer" when User click on Submit if Variable is False.
Adjust Variable to True is State of box and buttons is Selected.
Submit Interactions when User click on Submit if Variable is True.
The corresponding feedbacks appear.
I will reiterate that the lack of options to manually edit the Invalid Feedback when every other feedback can be edited via the Masters is just puzzling. I'm sure that it isn't as hard to implement as other features, right?
This Invalid Feedback layer doesn't meet WCAG standards for accessibility. It's not set up for the screen reader to read the text, only the OK button. Please fix.
Really sorry for the trouble. We're seeing an issue in Storyline 360 where JAWS does not read Invalid Answer text. This bug only affects the Modern Player – the same problem doesn't happen in the Classic player. We'll be sure to update you on our progress with this bug as we make changes.

Hi Junko,
I see that Wendy was able to help you out with a similar post here.
I just wanted to link the two for anyone following along.

Hello Javier,
I just replied to a similar post here and I'll be sure to attach this conversation to the report I mentioned as well.

Great news! We just released another update for Articulate 360, and included a few important fixes that you'll see in the release notes here.
The item you'll be interested in is:
Fixed: Audio tracks from multiple layers could play simultaneously, even when the layers weren't open.
Just launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button for Storyline 360. Details here.
Please let us know if you have any questions, either here or by reaching out to our Support Engineers directly.

Hello I have the problem, that i see "my feedback layer" PLUS the hard coded in articulate ---- how can I delete/hide/take it to the rubbish bin ---??
cheers

Hi Axel,
If you need to delete any of the layers shown, you'll use the little trash icon to remove them:

Hello
I do not really understand, why the "invalid feedback" layer is impossible to edit. why? this is just like the others "right" or "wrong".
If i try to customiz it: the old Articulate feedback windows still appear - this is not the way i wan t it.
cheers
Axel
Hi Axel!
You've almost got it. You just need a small adjustment to your trigger conditions.
Check out the changes I made to your file, and let me know what you think!
Thanks a lot!!!!
great support!!!
Thank you so much for your help.

Hi, you make a variable, call a javascript and bypass the submit if no selection is made.
Her is the shript I made:
var player = GetPlayer();
player.SetVar("checked", 0);
if(document.querySelector('[aria-checked="true"]')){
player.SetVar("checked", 1);
}
