Choose Your Own E-Learning Characters #195: ChallengeRecap

An easy way to increase learner engagement is to give learners opportunities to personalize their learning experience. And letting them choose an avatar that best represents them is one of the easiest (and most popular) ways to design more personalized, and engaging, courses.

Technically, this is a simple process. Using a single variable (usually text or number), you can dynamically change an object’s state to show a specific character. The design challenge is finding unique ways to present a series of characters learners can choose from. And that’s what this week’s challenge is all about!

Challenge of the Week

This week, your challenge is to show one or more ways learners can personalize their courses with custom avatars.

The emphasis this week is on character selection and the different ways different characters can be presented and selected. Please include at least two screens to show how the avatar is carried over from the selection slide to the content slide.

Are you new to Storyline 360 or unsure how to use variables? No problem! You can create a mock-up or storyboard of an interaction showing how character selection would work in your design idea. Your entry doesn’t need to be interactive.
