Share Your E-Learning Quiz Games #473: Challenge | Recap

Welcome to the final round of our four-week e-learning game challenge!

You’ve done the heavy lifting—mapped out your design concepts, built your working prototypes, and taken in all that feedback. Now, it’s time to come on down and show off your final game example.

🏆 Challenge of the Week

This week, your challenge is to share an e-learning game inspired by popular TV quiz shows.

🙏 If you’ve been following along with this four-part challenge series, please include links to your previous examples for each week. This will help me pull together a great recap of the series.

Week 1Concept & Storyboarding

Week 2Design & Prototyping

Week 3: Development & Review

Week 4: Final Testing & Project Submission

  • Goal: Complete and share your final project
  • Deliverables:
    • Add the final touches, animations, and advanced interactions
    • Incorporate any feedback you received
    • Test your game for bugs, usability, and accessibility
    • Share a link to your final project

🎁 BONUS: Share a quick write-up about your projects in the community. Talk about what you learned, how you used feedback, or how your project evolved over the four weeks. Anything you think would be helpful or interesting is welcome!

🚨 NOTE: And don’t worry if you didn’t join the earlier challenges—you’re still welcome to participate this week. Ideally, you’d complete all four weeks, but any contribution is appreciated!

📋 FEEDBACK: I really want to hear what you thought about this challenge. You’re welcome to answer as many or as few questions as you’d like, and you can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. If you prefer, you can submit your responses anonymously.

Share your feedback

I linked to my final version and the Week 1 concept. I also loaded my original flow chart. Thank you for all the kind words you provided along the way.

Here is my post mortem on this challenge:

      1. There's that old saying, "My eyes were bigger than my stomach". I intended to do three rounds of dates, but could only finish one. The scripting and generating the audio took a lot longer than I expected. I have the scripts for Zara and Dr. Dave so perhaps before the end of the year I can finish them off.
      2. I have about 70 individual pieces of audio in this demo. I didn't do a good job of naming the audio clips before I loaded them, so if I ever had to pass this file off it would be hard for someone to untangle.
      3. I really liked using the AI voices from Artlist, but I didn't see a place to download the caption files. I had to type in all the captions myself. I used the notes panel which helped, but it would have been easier to import them. I liked "Tony's" voice the most and loved the way he pronounced "Peter" and "Pinot Noir". I think these are the best AI voices I've used so far.
      4. I used AI to help convert my hedge fund compliance questions and answers into the style of the 1970s Dating Game show. I was impressed that AI could capture the cringy nature of the answers.
      5. I don't think the background audio control is working as planned. I have it set to reduce the volume of the music by 80% when the characters are speaking, but it doesn't feel like the music volume is reduced enough.
      6. I didn't accomplish my objective of making this keyboard friendly. I started, and then lost steam on it.
      7. I hate the song "Spanish Flea" and the color pink now.
      8. I regret not working in a question about merkins in the workplace. I was saving that for Zara, the HR Director. :)

Hi Jodi. Regarding your fifth point, problem with the background audio control not working as planned... It may be - I say it may be - that if you want to “set to reduce music volume by 80% when characters are speaking”, you need to enter “20” in the audio control panel (i.e. you keep 20% of the volume, and therefore reduce by 80%), not 80. This may be your mistake. Burn this message if I'm wrong.

The first version I saw was already excellent, Jodi. Thanks for the subtitles: I had a feeling I was missing your doses of humor.
I can imagine the enormous amount of writing to complete just Kim's journey, but it's great. At least I'll have seen one of these shows in my life, otherwise I'd a thousand times rather shun this kind of game show! Oh la la!

Very impressive, Jody! Love the clever profile descriptions. But I know what you mean about scope-- I had to get rid of a category in my project as well. I also had a lot of audio clips since I did unique feedback for both correct and incorrect answers. Could've saved myself a lot of time if I just duplicated the host's responses, but that wouldn't have been as fun :)

Hello everyone! Here's my final submission. I cannot overstate how helpful it has been to be able to preview JavaScript and use the inspector tool to troubleshoot.

I've written about how this project went on my blog and I've also shared a link to the demo and a video, which I'll continue to update, because I struggle to call something finished!

I will find ways to work future challenges into this project by adding new levels which the player needs to beat in order to escape the jungle! I missed out on the feedback week so I'd love to hear what you think. :)

Hey Thierry, thanks so much for the kind feedback and for taking the time to play the game. I invested a lot of time trying to get that right so really glad to hear it!

The graphic design is obviously brilliant, Kate. And we can imagine how complicated it is to correctly manage the 4 different ways of answering each question. So, congratulations on getting it right.
  • Hi all! First off, I'm super impressed by everyone's projects for this 4-week series! It's so inspiring to see all of the creativity and all that can be possible in Storyline and beyond. It's been really neat to see the progression throughout the 4 weeks.

Here is my final project, The Great Digital Baking Show. It's only one challenge (originally wanted two), but had a busy couple weeks. Enjoy, and happy baking!

Cute! I'm not much of a baker. I took a chance on the ingredients for the red velvet cake. The timer was a nice touch too.

I like animation, Kistern, and I like baking. I've tried “American” recipes before, but never these.
  • Here is my final course submission :) I'm looking forward to your feedback!

Participating in the challenge was really helpful because it allowed me to thoughtfully work through the process step by step. It was fun to tackle a more complex project with limited time. By consciously making time for this challenge, I was able to push through my perfectionism, which often holds me back. It was also valuable to share the process, even if the courses weren't fully finished. I actually wanted to add so many more features, but I just decided to reduce it to the basic functionalities because of time. This challenge was all about focusing on the journey, not just the end result!
  • Finally, here is my submission. It took a while to complete because I had some issues setting the spin to work as intended.

Excited to share my entry - Cinema Classics Challenge—spin the wheel, answer trivia, and earn tickets in this retro-themed game show!

  • Coming in a little late to this but I've documented what I did and have written a post about it. written a post.

This is a Family Feud x Wordle game based on an article on the web related to 'focus'. I leverage the new AI features and other tools to create this example.
