TikTok E-Learning Examples #495: Challenge | Recap

šŸ† Challenge of the Week

This week, your challenge is to create a short video or animated presentation using one or more TikTok video techniques.

Okay, I know what you’re thinking: ā€œWait, are we making TikToks now?ā€ Nope, no TikTok accounts required.

But here’s the thing. TikTok has completely changed the way people consume video content. It’s short, engaging, and fast-paced, and that’s exactly what keeps viewers hooked.

As course designers, we’d be missing out if we didn’t take a few of those high-impact techniques and apply them to our own courses. And that's what this week's challenge is all about!

šŸ’Ŗ What You’ll Be Practicing:

  • Short-form storytelling: Keep it quick and impactful. Aim for 21 to 34 seconds and get your message across without losing attention.
  • Music, sound effects, and voiceovers: Sound is more than just background noise. It shapes the mood, adds humor, and makes your content more memorable.
  • Text-over-image techniques: You’ve seen it before. Bold text popping up to highlight key points is a simple trick that makes a big difference.
  • Timing and pacing: Fast cuts create energy. Slow motion builds drama. The way you edit changes how your message is received.

Use whatever tools you already have (Articulate 360, Camtasia, video editing apps, PowerPoint, whatever works). And no need to post on TikTok, just apply these techniques to see how they transform your content.

Welcome Kaffy! It was interesting to learn how non profit's get their funding.

Late as usual, but here's my take on the challenge. Not pure tik-tok style, but hopefully in the vein enough. Adding two digit numbers the easy way (assuming the learner has learned the place values of 10s and 1s)

This is very engaging and fun--for any age! Excellent job! Which animation program did you use for the character?

Thanks! CreateStudio Pro for the character. I like the voice options in Storyline more, so I do text-to-speech in Storyline and then import the audio into CreateStudio.
