In Case You Missed It (ICYMI): Accessibility Updates in Q1 2025
It’s already our 3rd edition of the series, and the group has grown by an additional 130 members, bringing our total to 533 members. Thank you for being a part of this growth and for caring about accessibility.
In the last update, In Case You Missed It (ICYMI): Accessibility Updates in Q4 2024, I said we’d keep it short and sweet, but I have a lot to share!
Product updates
- Rise 360
- New: Build math equations using LaTeX syntax and revise them by adding color and alt text.
- Enhanced: Matching knowledge check blocks have been upgraded with intuitive navigation, full keyboard support, and comprehensive screen reader integration.
- Storyline 360
- New: Build math equations using LaTeX syntax and revise them by adding color and alt text, all within Storyline 360.
- New: Optimize accessibility with a set-focus trigger that lets you control when course elements receive focus.
- Enhanced: New icons now display as individual icons to accessibility tools by default. You no longer need to hide each shape component of the icon separately.
- Enhanced: We clarified the function of the Apply to all button for adding alt text in the media library and Size and Position window.
- Enhanced: The media library now has separate tabs for alt text, captions, and internal notes.
- Enhanced: Text-to-speech narration, sound effects, audio, and video content with closed captions now display a CC label in their audio icons on the timeline for quick identification.
- Enhanced: Open the closed captions editor right from the context menu to add or edit captions for media content.
- Enhanced: Closed captions are generated by default when converting text to speech.
- Enhanced: Text-to-speech narration, sound effects, and audio with closed captions now display a CC label in their audio icons on the slide stage for quick identification.
- Fixed: Screen readers didn't announce text on lightbox slides.
- Fixed: JAWS 2025 screen readers didn't always activate buttons from the base layer.
- Fixed: When a course was accessed using an NVDA screen reader, the punctuation in keyboard shortcuts wasn't announced and arrow-key navigation to the play button didn't work.

We’ve released Storyline Math Equations and Rise Math Equations and added AI-generated Alt Text Suggestion, AI-generated Captions, and Audio Transcription.
