Share 3 changes you made to the Rise AI Course Draft to improve learner engagement.
- Lesson 1 beginning, used Edit with AI > added prompt "Open with a hook strategy: question, surprising fact (only if verified), or scenario as intro before the original paragraph." > Insert below.
- In 1st lesson, converted process block to accordion AI Block Tools > Prompt "Edit title for each item to begin with a verb." Didn't love result, so converted to flashcards.
-
Lesson 1 near block titled "Strategies to Promote Engagement…", I selected to add AI Audio to the numbered list block and picked link for "insert block text". This gave me the text in an easy copy and paste format. Then for the block that appeared above the numbered list block, I added AI audio, selected insert block text, and also pasted the numbered list block text. This way the audio speaks to both blocks. Also used while in the course media window, Edit with AI and prompted "remove numbers 1-4" as I didn't want the numbers said in the narration.
Which AI feature or capability was most valuable in your workflow? Using AI right from the start for creating a first draft. Also, AI for knowledge check when project content is closer to complete/ready.
What challenges did you face when trying to get AI to produce the results you wanted?
It took several tries for me to get AI to take some content of a text block and list them as relevant bullets while keeping other text in the block as paragraph. I found starting over with an adjusted prompt got me closer each time to want I wanted. (The power of a good prompt🙂)
Sometimes I can CTRL+Z and undo AI edits to text, but I never have available an Undo icon in the quick menu. (The tip to duplicate a block before experimenting is very much appreciated)- DianneTomko-228Peer Guide
I enjoyed reading about how you experimented with different AI features throughout your workflow. Your willingness to test options, adjust prompts, and pivot when the results weren't quite right shows a thoughtful approach to course design.
I especially liked your creative use of AI Audio to combine content from multiple blocks into a smoother learner experience. Your reflection on the importance of prompt refinement was also valuable and a great reminder that iterative prompting often leads to the best results.
Thanks for sharing both your successes and challenges, along with practical tips like duplicating a block before experimenting with AI.

What were three changes that you made?
- I added AI-generated images throughout the lesson blocks. I used the existing block text as the starting point for each prompt, then generated images in the Vector Blues style to create a consistent visual look across the course.
- I used an AI text prompt to emphasize key terms by bolding them and changing the bolded font color to #0e497b. This helped make important words and phrases stand out consistently across the blocks.
- I used AI to create knowledge checks at key points throughout the lessons. For each knowledge check, I also created a banner that included an AI-generated image, a heading, and a brief lead-in statement.
Which AI feature or capability was most valuable in your workflow, and why? Did anything about it surprise you?
I found the AI image generator especially valuable because it can save a significant amount of time when searching for appropriate visuals. I used the Vector Blues style throughout this project, which gave the images a consistent look and helped me explore a style I would not typically use in my usual workflow due to my employer’s design standards.
I also found the text-editing prompts useful, especially the ability to bold key terms and apply a specific font color. That is something I currently do manually in my courses, so being able to automate it could save time and improve consistency. I used the key takeaway feature several times and was surprised by how helpful and usable the results were. The knowledge check generator was also effective, and I can see myself continuing to use it as a starting point for future lessons.
I added audio to the lessons using the AI Audio feature which I liked a lot. It made the VO generation process a lot quicker and easier. The quality of the voices seem good and probably better than WellSaid Studio we’ve been using in my company.
What challenges did you face when trying to get AI to produce the results you wanted?
One challenge I ran into was with a flashcard block that I had created using the instant-change feature. I liked the initial result, but when I tried to edit the individual cards, the block became unresponsive. I could not select the text or make changes to that block, or to the blocks immediately above and below it. I tried to exit the course, but at first, it appeared the course might not save and that I could lose my changes. Eventually, the application seemed to catch up, and I was able to exit and reopen the course, return to the affected blocks, and make the edits.
I also noticed that prompts for the AI image generator can become very lengthy. In some cases, it seemed like a shorter, more focused prompt might produce better results. I think it will take some practice to find the right balance between giving AI enough direction and giving it too much information.
One question I still have is how accurately Magic Text import can generate course content when the script, language, and activities have already been defined in advance. In my workflow, I typically use a detailed design document that has been reviewed and approved by subject matter experts and management. If that document includes specific language and approved activities that need to be preserved, I want to understand how well AI can use that predefined content to create a new course without changing the intended wording, structure, or instructional approach.

LeslieClifton-9 it sounds like your source design documents are a great litmus test of the magic text import! As you experiment with it I bet the wider community would love to hear what trends you notice with it, and if there's any best practices for getting the outcome you want (especially about keeping specific language!)

Changes made:
1. Used the engaging hook prompt to the first intro paragraph to add excitement
2. Added some instructional text to introduce interactives for smoother transitions
3. Added background images to the last text block in each lesson then used AI to edit the image to align with the course topic. This was done to add visual interest.
The most valuable feature is the ability to change text into an interactive experience. This makes courses much more engaging. We have solely been using Storyline and are very excited to begin using Rise!
The most frustrating challenge was the AI prompt of syncing text to audio not working. This has been an issue the last couple of weeks. The AI response is that it doesn't have that capability and that I need to add cue points for it to sync to.- MillissaGould-4Community Member
Great job on this course. I think the sorting activities were a great way to reinforce the concepts.
- JeanMarrapodi-cPeer Guide
Nice job MarlaCole-9c6f0. I like how you overlaid the text on images sometimes. You have also done a great job with the captions when they were an option. I did notice in the image of the two women talking that your alt tag wound up on the screen. Watch that they stay in the background for the screen reader. Your sighted learners already know what the picture is.
One thing I noticed was how easy it was to scroll through the lesson without being forced to stop. Managers are notorious for cutting corners in courses like this and zipping through things without reading. Forcing them to interact helps them absorb the content better. Yes, you have accordions and flip cards. But nothing is making them do them. Leverage the continue bars and set them to require learners to interact from time to time and to force them to read things. Put things like your pull quotes on screens of their own, after a break, and with a break after them, to force them to slow down and pay attention.
When you say you had trouble with it syncing audio and text, what were you trying to get it to do? That's a feature that helps animate bullets properly on the Storyline side. I'm not sure it's available in Rise.

- 3 Changes: (1) I opened with a "hook" - I started each lesson with a scenario, image, and audio clip to engage the learner by storytelling. (2) I use the AI assistant to shorten text so that information would be more condensed and easier for the learner to read and proceed. (3) I used the AI assistant to instant covert blocks to display the material in a move interactive way to engage the learner.
- Most valuable AI feature: The instant converter for interactive blocks is the most valuable as I could quickly change the way the content was displayed and I could use a variety of blocks within the lesson.
- Challenges: The challenge was learning the best way to display the information and what prompts I wanted AI to assist me with. Overall, I find it very user friendly!

I really liked the layout of this course. You were very creative in the use of images and various types of blocks. That made it a lot more visually engaging. I also learned that I can place audio within the image on the image with text block! Thanks!

3 changes I made: I made quite a few changes including playing with bolding words, adding AI images, changing block types, and editing text. The biggest change I made was taking an existing block and converting it into a process. Once in the process blocks, I created an image for each category and used the text AI to write a scenario which I converted to AI voice. I always love to find areas in a course where I can add something that feels a little more "humanlike" by including real examples. I really liked utilizing this as I am a big champion of the concept that people learn best when they can make a personal connection to something. By using the AI voice, you can hear more emotion/inflection in it that previous AI voice models which really helped. I also completed the changes that were required including adding knowledge checks and the quiz at the end. I did play with changing some blocks to clickable images. In those, I created my own custom style, which was fun to play with.
Which AI feature or capability was most valuable in your workflow, and why? Similar to what other people have shared, I love the custom block feature. Sometimes I just want to see what content can look like in a different format and so that is something that I really enjoy using. I also appreciate the text edits, especially when I can put directions in such as to change the tone, reading level, or to make it more concise. A lot of my work is working with SME's that are science focused and we often have to simplify the language. This helps to save a lot of time. I liked that the AI did put in interactions when I created the course. It helped me to think about the content in a different way. If this was my own course where I was really familiar with the content, I don't know if I would use this feature, but for someone who is very new to Rise I can imagine that this would be extremely helpful to just see what some of the options are.
What challenges did you face when trying to get AI to produce the results you wanted? I did find that it ignored my commands when I asked it to rewrite something without em dashes which is a bit frustrating. I also don't love that there isn't an option to change blocks into clickable images. It would be nice if that conversion was available so the makers had the right text and then I was only needing to do the image conversion and arranging the markers in a format I liked. As other people have stated, AI always needs that human review so it's so important to read thru everything and make sure that it hasn't gone rogue.
EmilyBarber-43c I'd love to know if you're able to take the simplified language versions back to your SME's for helping them calibrate. I know that doesn't always fit in the workflow, but it seems like it could work for some!
- EmilyBarber-43cCommunity Member
Hi there! So for other courses I have offered them different options of the text. I do have to be cautious of when I say it was created with AI as there are very strong feeling in my organization about the use of AI. Instead, I like to run it through, re-read for human review, and then provide it to the SME as another option.
- JeanMarrapodi-cPeer Guide
It's clear EmilyBarber-43c that this isn't your first rodeo here. What a great idea to leverage that personable avatar explaining things! She added a lot. I can also see that you brought in several Storyline blocks, which really built the interactivity.
You've got some wonderful ideas for the next generation of the AI abilities. I hope you're sharing them with the team.

3 Changes I made:
1. Generated custom image prompt to give learner different look than traditional image style.
2. Generated Quiz using Ai assistant to reduce the time it takes to write assessment questions and feedback.
3. Converted text block into interactive flashcards using Instant convert feature.
Most Valuable Ai features:
- Ai image prompt generator is a great feature to generate the prompt for image from text blocks.
- Custom feedback for each answer choice, great way to customize feedback text for each answer choice.
- In Storyline, assistant can sync layer objects with audio, which reduces significant amount of work adjusting them manually.
- Creating multiple versions of text in different tone, great way to customize the tone of learning and compare them.Challenges: With Ai Image generation, sometimes it gives the spelling incorrect or spelling is not visible clearly. For Ai Avatar the eye contact, lip sync and hand gesture does not match. For Ai Audio some word's pronunciation is incorrect, especially when using translation features or generating voice is other than English language.

Your use of AI to create custom visuals, quizzes, and interactive flashcards is a great example of enhancing both efficiency and learner engagement. I also appreciate your honest reflections on the challenges with AI-generated images, audio, and avatars. Keep exploring these tools. Your willingness to experiment and adapt will continue to strengthen your eLearning development skills!

1) Changes-took out some of the activities. Sometimes too many can make the eLearning too long, shortened or changed the tone of some of the paragraphs, and added more "continue" buttons to break up the content.
2) Nothing surprised me but I really liked the hook strategy. I'll be using that to help start an eLearning or section that I'm struggling to introduce.
3) A challenge I found was with AI images. Sometimes it would go in a different direction than what I was looking for. At times, I'd have to rewrite what I was looking for so it matched the concept I was looking for.- DianneTomko-228Peer Guide
Great job refining the course to improve the learner experience. I especially like your decision to reduce unnecessary activities and add more continue buttons to better pace the content and keep learners engaged.
- KyraDelgadilloCommunity Member
3 Changes I Made
- Added Key Takeaway custom blocks at the end of each lesson to align with the objectives and prepare the user for the end of course quiz.
- Updated long paragraphs to be shorter and/or use bulleted lists. I made this change to keep the learner engaged and reduce cognitive load.
- Converted a flash card activity to a bulleted list for easier comparison and to see everything at once without flipping cards back and forth. I made this change when I felt it made more sense for the learner to see the whole picture at once.
Most Valuable AI Feature
I used the AI Assistant Generate lesson summary feature to aid with making the key points for each lesson. It was extremely helpful because I was able to specify how many key takeaway points I wanted, and then use that for my custom block.
Challenges
Sometimes, I feel the AI struggles to remember something I already asked for. Let's say I want a section of text to be shorter and more concise. I can ask the AI to edit the text for this and it works well. Then, I might decide I want to change the tone but when it regenerates, it might add a lot more of the word fluff I wanted to remove initially. Custom prompts can assist with this, however. I know I can ask it to retain the conciseness or just ask it to do both things in one pass.
- DianneTomko-228Peer Guide
I like how you used AI-generated lesson summaries to create focused key takeaways that support learner success. Your thoughtful approach to simplifying content and choosing the most effective learning interactions shows a strong learner-centered design mindset. Great job!

Prompts:
Share 3 changes you made to the Rise AI Course Draft to improve learner engagement. Why did you make those changes to your project? Be specific!
1.) I added an AI image of a team of diverse co-workers. I thought this would be a good way to represent many different cultures when trying to draw a picture of who this course is for.
2.) I used convert block to flashcards. I used this block to help add engagement to each topic where learnings could think about the topic before flipping the card and learning more.
3.) I often used the prompt "rewrite or change tone to be more personable and instructional" to help simplify the text and have a more inviting tone so learners feel a part of their learning journal.
Which AI feature or capability was most valuable in your workflow, and why? Did anything about it surprise you?
I enjoyed the AI Audio feature. We've been using storyline audio for scripts up until this point so Rise having the capability is incredibly helpful and neat. The different tones and accents were great. Lastly, I enjoyed the "bold key terms" feature.
What challenges did you face when trying to get AI to produce the results you wanted?
As much as I loved the AI image generator, the images it made looked too similar. I had to retype the prompt a few times to get closer to what I wanted. I also found myself constantly using the "make shorter" feature with text. Some of the AI generated prompts were quite lengthy and seemed like a lot of filler words/sentences versus being concise.
Great experience overall! I really enjoyed this course.I hear you about trying to get the content more concise! I hope that knowing what to look for made editing it easier (like scanning for filler rather than having to read it all).
- CarolynFenderCommunity Member
Great job on your course! I love your overall theme and the AI image style you used. Our organization has been focused recently on more realistic AI images so I love to see the photo variances in other people's work. I like how you simplified the course as I also agree a lot of it was repetitive. I think it would be beneficial to use the quiz lesson at the end of the course as opposed to just using the knowledge checks. This will allow the learner to test their knowledge and get a score of how well they performed on the course.
Overall great work! I loved participating in this AI cohort and learned a lot.
