Hi, I am almost using up 30 free trial which was downloaded on my computer. I am wondering if I save my "articulate storyline story"version of project in my local drive. Can I open and edit it by using the articulate storyline software which was donwloaded in the other computers? Will any of my project features change or disappear with the ends of my free trial on my computer?
As long as you save your file with the .story extension, you'll be able to reopen it when you purchase and activate your copy of Storyline. You won't lose anything by moving from the free trial to the purchased copy - both are the full version.
If you'd like to share your file with your colleagues to collaborate on it, you can definitely do so. It may be easiest to share the file by putting it in a common folder in Dropbox.
I am using articulate story line 2 free trial and today is my last day before it expires .
I want to ask will my save file still be there when i re download the articulate software again tomorrow .I also have a save file on my thumb drive but it might be corrupted

The .story files are saved and are always there. Anyone with SL can open them anytime. The only problem with the trial version is that it won't run after it expires, but whatever you create is permanent and fully functional.
Do I need to download Captivate 360 again after my trial version ends? I want to purchase it and need to know how I get it after it after the trial ends.
Hello Christopher and welcome to E-Learning Heroes :)
Thanks for contacting us to share your concerns. I assume you are referring to Articulate 360. Captivate is not a product owned by Articulate.
Do I need to download Articulate 360 again after my trial ends and I purchase?
Nope! The software installed on your machine is the full version of the software. Your information is tied to your Articulate ID, which is what will reflect your subscription once a purchase is made.
My trial expired this week, and I had one especific Rise project that was on progress. As the company where I work for have some delay in the purchase of the software, I want to know if there is any chance to recover that project to do some minor changes while the full software is paid.
We'll keep your online data, including Rise 360 courses and Review 360 projects, on our servers for at least three months after your trial expires. This means you'll have access to your content again if you buy a subscription later. (We don't preserve Storyline 360 team slides or Rise 360 shared block templates when a trial expires.)
As long as the subscription is purchased by a member of your team, the transition from free trial to paid subscription is seamless. Users who have seats on the paid team can continue working with the same content they created during the trial period.
Thank you Leslie, I will recommend here buying the subscription ASAP to get access to the project again. One last question, I think the subscription is not going to be under my account, is there a chance to move a Rise project from one account to another?
No worries, Chela. Glad that I could share some helpful information.
If you're going to be using a different email/Articulate ID, it'd be best to add your current Articulate ID to the team then transfer the content to your new Articulate ID:
Sorry for the trouble! I've reached out to you via email so we can see why you're seeing the "Trial has expired" error message. We'll continue the conversation there!
Wonder if you can help - having similar issues. Built a project for a client in Rise using trial period. Sold the client on Articulate, but they were a little late getting set up. So my free trial expired before I was able to share across the project. I've seen they have set me up as Admin in their account now, but I can't work out how to get to the project in my account to get it ported over to them (just says trial expired when I log in with my credentials) and not sure if / how I can get to the project in my account when I log in with the client credentials. Is there a way to do this? And if so, would be most appreciative to get some guidance. Thanks in advance, Li
I had a trial of Articulate that expired Apr 26th. I cannot log into the account to access the content I created. Did I lose the ability to download my content under the trial?
Hi Linda, and welcome to the E-Learning Heroes community! ✨
We’ll keep your Rise 360 and Review 360 online data on our servers for at least three months after your trial expires. This means you’ll have access to your content again if you buy a subscription later, and during that time, the links should still work.
If you saved your Storyline files locally, you should still have access to those on your computer.
I hope that helps, and please let me know if you have additional questions!

But my school did not purchase the software and we did not use any activation key

So what u meant to say is that as Long as i save my extension as story it doesn't matter if the software I use is a free trial or purchase
Correct. And if you publish it, it will also always be usable.
Thanks I just hope my files are not corrupted

Any Rise 360 files created will be tied to your Articulate ID as well and anything saved locally should open right up as expected.

Hi Li,
I appreciate you sharing the details of what you are working to accomplish.
You're so close! You need to have a user seat to see the content you've created with your Articulate ID and then share it with your client.
Hi Leslie, thanks - all sorted! Li
Glad to hear it, Li! I appreciate the update.
