Annoying change of text box appereance from one computer to the other

Hi everybody,

it happens that when I work on a 360 file in my office (with a Mac with Parallel software)  and I set font size and format of text boxes, when I go home and I open the same file in my house with my personale PC a lot of text boxes appears different from the ones I did in the office... There is any way to get rid of this REALLY annoying issue. Same font, same size, same text box dimension... BUT DIFFERENT OUTPUT. That's a huge time spending bug. Attached 3 pictures with an example of a text box that shows the problem. Please help.

  • Hi Francesco!

Thanks so much for reaching out! Sorry to hear you've run into this snag.

I've gone ahead and opened a support case on your behalf so our talented team can take a closer look at your file.

In the meantime, I have a few questions:

    1. Could you please share what font details you are currently working with ( size/style/etc?) It would be helpful to relay this to our Support Engineers.

    2. Are you saving your file locally

Looking forward to hearing from you!

  • Buongiorno Luciana,

sure. The font is Saira extra condensed in this case, but in the past it has happened also with Avenir and another one which I don't remember. But I don't think is a font related issue.

I don't think is saved locally. When I work on my laptop and I save my job it is uploaded on Microsoft OneDrive, and then I open the file from there on my desktop PC.

    Grazie e a presto

  • Ciao Francesco, 👋

Thanks so much for providing this font information to us. I see that my colleague Mark is working with you. I've relayed your most recent reply to him in your support case so he's in the loop.

In the meantime, I do want to mention that we recommend working and saving your files on your local drive in order to avoid corruption.

You're in good hands! We'll continue the conversation over in your support case.

  • Thank you but,

for example... if I work 3 days in Milan with a desktop PC and the rest of the week in Rome with another dektop PC, it means that I have to use a pendrive to move the file? What if a colleague of mine has to work on the same file in another place? I need to use a cloud system... what do you think? Any suggestion?

      Hi Francesco,

Can I ask if you've tried using Storyline 360's Cloud Backup feature to save a copy of your project file online for sharing?

Since you're already saving your project file to a network drive, I'd recommend using the Cloud Backup feature to see if using this as an alternative way to save your project file will help address the changes in the formatting of your text boxes. Additionally, you'll also want to compare how the issue behaves if you switch to a standard font like Arial. Doing these two tests will help isolate whether the issue is being caused by the location where the files are being saved, or if it has something to do with the font that is used.

Let us know how it goes through the support case that was opened for you so we can consolidate all communication in one location!
