Audio Editor Not Playing

Jun 16, 2022

My audio editor abruptly stopped playing audio. When pressing the play button, the marker doesn't move forward at all. It's happening across all Storyline files I've opened and re-loading the audio files doesn't resolve the issue. Nor does rebooting. I recently upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11...is it possible this change created a glitch?

Hi Robin,

I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing this issue when trying to edit an audio file! Windows 11 is supported as noted, here, but I'd like to ask you a few clarifying questions to help me troubleshoot.

  • Are you working from your local hard drive?
  • Is this happening with a specific audio file? If you use the record microphone feature, are you still unable to edit that recording?

One thing you can try is to repair Storyline. This often fixes any unexpected behavior.

If you feeling comfortable sharing your project with us, we'll be happy to investigate further! You can upload your file here, or privately through a support case. We will delete it from our systems once troubleshooting is complete.

Hi Kelly,

Thanks so much for the response! I am working from a local hard drive, and this is happening across all audio files and all Storyline projects. Using the record microphone feature produces the same result. I uninstalled/reinstalled Storyline with no luck.

In all cases, I can use all the features of the editor, but the audio will not play in the editor, making it difficult to identify the precise segments I need to edit.

I will submit a support case and also check with our internal help desk in case there was a possible audio drive issue related to the W11 upgrade.

Thanks again!
