Avoid automatically resume the playback of a slide when coming back to it

Jan 18, 2023

Hello,

I have an animated button that triggers on the end of a slide. So I pause the playback until several conditions are met. Usually those are in objects on the main slide or in layers.

But when I go to another slide (for instance for annex reading) and come back, the playback resumes automatically, even if not all the conditions are met.

How can I avoid this auto-resume or condition the resuming of the playback when coming back to a stored state of a slide?

Thanks !

Hello, of course I've tried all the various options there. The most adequate is "resume saved state" and it is the one that I use.

But the paused state is not saved in the saved state and whenever the slide is reopened it just resumes playing passing the pause marker, thus getting after my checks.

For now I'll use variables as a workaround or use layers. When a layer closes, it doesn't resume playing the main slide.

But it would be great if I have a trigger that keeps the slide from playing any further if the recorded state upon leaving the slide was paused.

Or a checkbox "Resume playback upon revisiting this slide" in the pause chronology trigger. It could be checked by default, and we can then uncheck it to keep the paused state upon reopening of a previously paused slide :)

Like what Storyline does when using hover on an element, there's a checkbox "restore previous state when the mouse exits"

Ahh - I see what you are trying to do now.  In this case, instead of a pause timeline trigger, I would recommend a show layer trigger - just have the layer properties set to pause the timeline of the base.  Instead of resuming the timeline when the actions are complete, you will use a close layer tirgger.

I hope that makes sense and works for your situation.
