Can you create a button set on grouped shapes?

Oct 31, 2019

Morning, I have searched the support area and can't seem to find the answers.

I created 5 rectangles and add the end each has a circle with a number in it (for objectives), I grouped the rectangle and circle to become one.  I did this for each one, but when I select all 5 and right click I can't get the Button set option.

I decided to ungroup and just select the circle on each and the button set option appeared.  Is there a reason it shouldn't work with grouped images, I was stumped as to why the option wouldn't pop up

Thanks

Teresa

Hey there, Teresa. Great question!

Button sets let you create interactions where the learner can select only one object at a time from a group of objects.

With your setup in mind, you can button set the circles with the numbers first and then combine it with the rectangles. Here's a short video recording of how to set this up, and here's a related example crafted by David Anderson!

I hope this helps, and do let me know if I'm off base! With a little more detail, I'm happy to explore alternatives that will help you reach your goal!

I tried this concept with an image and a button. (I would like viewers to be able to click on an image over the button or the button itself).  I have the items successfully grouped and both assigned the button state.  In preview you can click on either and the state will change but still only the button is linked to the trigger that will advance to the next layer.  Is there a next step after your example Katie that will allow the clicking of the image to advance as well?

Hello Sarah, and welcome to E-Learning Heroes! ⭐️

Are you able to link the jump to the next slide trigger to the grouped objects? Here's a 30-second demo going off of Katie's sample

If you have something else in mind, could I have you share your file in this discussion or privately here so we can take a closer look?

Staying tuned for your response!
