I've put this trigger on 2 random slides that fire off and play the content just fine, no other conditions. The trigger just apparently does nothing. I can send in a ticket if necessary.

I'm sorry you're running into this as well, and we'll follow up here when our team has a fix in place!
We have seen the same problem.
It happens when the Classic player is being used, but the Modern player seem to work correctly.
Hope this could be fixed soon.
