Editing the "Choices" text box in multiple choice questions

Aug 09, 2023

I am having issues specifically with the Velocity template in Storyline, where I am unable to manipulate the text box that encompasses the choices in a multiple choice question. Every time I try to either move it or elongate the box in any direction, it suddenly shrinks down so that only one answer is visible, and a scroll bar appears, so that you need to scroll through the rest of the answers.

I thought I had it fixed by formatting the states of each choice. They were all working fine, but after saving the course and coming back to it, every one of my knowledge check multiple choice questions appear to suffer that same fate as before. Is this a bug with the Velocity template, or is there a fix that I can implement easily so that I don't have to recreate a large number of questions?

I attached the .story file. The most examples are in the first scenario.

Hello Mike, hope you're doing well!

On the MC interaction slide, select the entire choice box and right click, then choose Format Shape - Text box and then unselect the wrap option for the options. Once the wrap option is unselected, all the options are visible without any scroll.

Please review the attached SL file.

I see - do that in the slide master, right? I note that it fixes the immediate issue of not being able to see most answers. It still reverts to a small box when I try to resize it after making the change, but I think I found a solution in conjunction with this one:

I found that when I moved the text box above the answer choice box down, for some reason, it interacted with the answer box, and it suddenly showed all the answers again. After saving it, it appears to have kept the choice boxes intact and in the positions I want them to be in. I'm crossing my fingers that this will be the solution for the moment.

In the meantime, I'm making a note not to use this particular template again. Thanks for your help, Sandeep!
