Help! Next/Previous Buttons and Menu Not Working on iPad Pro
May 07, 2020
Hello Articulate Community,
My team and I have run into a problem and can't seem to find a solution. We have a course developed in Storyline 360 and it is working correctly on desktop but when our learners take the course on an iPad Pro they cannot click Next or Previous and the Menu also does not work. However, they can swipe right to left.
We published this course in many different ways to try to find a solution but so far nothing is working.
We have tired:
- SCORM 1.2 and 2004
- Classic and Modern Player
- Complete/Incomplete and Passed/Incomplete
Has anyone else experienced this issue and/or found a solution?

Good morning, Northlake Professional team!
I haven't seen similar reports, so I'm glad you brought this up. First, tell me a little more about your scenario:
Next, I'd like to test the course in another LMS environment like SCORM Cloud to see if the problem happens there. If that works, you can either ⤸
Hi Articulate!
I have the same issue as Northlake Professional LLC. The next & prev buttons are not working on an iPad Pro (with latest iOS updates). Both in Safari & Chrome.
I have no issues on desktop in our LMS or in SCORM Cloud.
Is there already a solution for this problem?
Hi M T,
I do not see an update or a support case related to the above report.
I'd be happy to look into this further with you and test with my iPad Pro.
With your permission, I'd like to take a look at your project file to investigate what's happening. You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.
Any news on how this can be resolved? I'm having the same issue with a test the client is trying to use right now on iPads. It works fine on the desktop, but the Next buttons have to be clicked several times to move forward. For some reason, they seem to work fine if the iPad is rotated into landscape mode in some instances.
Hi Ken,
Thank you for contacting our support team as well. I can see that Cleo is already taking a look so you should be hearing from them soon.
Thanks Leslie!
Hi I am having a similar problem on ipad minis. The buttons (navigation - custom built and system buttons to reveal a layer) don't seem to work straight away but if you refresh they then work. Was there a resolution? Many thanks
Hi Amanda,
For my project, it ended up being an extension in Chrome that was the problem. It's called Dashlane and the people who created Dashlane said they're aware of the problem and are attempting to fix it. Not sure if you're using Chrome or if that issue applies to you at all, but that seems to be the cause of the bug for us.
Hope that helps!
Hi Amanda,
Thanks for chiming in and sharing what you are experiencing. I'd like you to share your project file with our support engineers to investigate what's happening with your permission. You can share it privately by uploading it here. It will be deleted when troubleshooting is complete.
Hey Ken,
Thanks for popping back in to share your solution. This could certainly help others that read this conversation in the future.
My pleasure!
Thanks Ken, that's good to know. I've just checked and my tester was using Safari.
Thanks for reaching out to the support team, Amanda. I can see that Jan is taking a look and you should be hearing from them soon.
Hi,
I am having a similar problem with custom built next and previous buttons not always working on an iPad. The course is published to LMS, works fine on desktop and iphone, and in all browsers.
My learners (volunteers external to the organisation) who are using iPads with Safari keep getting stuck on the same slide. One user confirmed he is using iOS 15.
Hi Katie,
Thanks for sharing your experience. In looking at past cases, there have been specific solutions provided by our Support Team to help resolve each one, so I've started a case on your behalf to take a closer look.
You should see an email with an upload link arrive shortly. Please share your .story file, and our team will help troubleshoot and provide next steps!
Hi.
Not sure if this is the way to go about asking my question. The problem is similar. I have a number of courses that work perfectly on a Mac but, recently, on an iPad I am unable to launch and none of the buttons work in Safari and in Chrome browsers. I’m not using any LMS. The courses are located on my website. Is there anything that can be done to remedy this problem? Thanks so very much. Daniel.
Hi Daniel,
I went ahead and created a support case for you so we can get you device specific assistance with your concern. Your case is in good hands, and a member from our support team will be in touch shortly!
Any news? I have the same problem, bottom 10-15% of screen buttons do not work.
Hello Mark!
Are you also using an iPad? If so, are you using the latest iOS version? Lastly, are you viewing your course using Safari or a different browser?
