How to Link to a Resource in the Course Player - unrestricted

Sep 24, 2021

Hi,

I need to include a link to a video in my course but it is to remain optional.  Usually the whole course is locked down so all elements have to be completed before marking complete.

If I follow this advice (https://articulate.com/support/article/how-to-link-to-a-resource-in-the-course-player-sl2) will a user have to watch the video, or can they skip it if they know the content and still be able to mark complete?

I am using Articulate 360.

Hi,

We have encountered an error message when uploading an mp4 file.

The following message appears when we try and preview or in a published version:

The link is not active whilst previewing.

Plus we also see another coded error message in publish view.

Any advice?

Hi

I am following upon the query that Liesa Rock raised (see attached email).

I followed the instructions and added the URL link and changed the trigger to

When I publish this is the message I get when I click to view the video - the video does not play. However it did play when I tested it in the Player/resource section

Welcome to E-Learning Heroes, Lucy! ⭐️

I don't see that we received a follow-up from Liesa yet, so I don't have an update to share at this time.

Also, it looks like your attachments didn't go through when you replied by email. Could you try attaching them here? Then we will reach out shortly after with the next step!

Hi,

I am working with Lucy, so was asking on her behalf.

Lucy, fyi - I think the attachments need to be made through the Heroes site vs in an email.

Hello Lucy and Liesa,

Thanks for sharing the error you are receiving. You mention that you're publishing the content, but are you uploading and viewing it in the environment it was published for?

If you view a Storyline 360 course on your local hard drive (or send it to others to view on their local hard drives), you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, and network that can cause various features of the course to fail. To test your published content and share it with others, upload it to the environment it was published for.

Hi,

We were previewing in Storyline and also publishing and then opening the published version but we are not viewing in LMS, which will be where users access the eL module from.

Is this the issue? It is probably OK but we won't know until it is tested in LMS?
