I can help you get to the bottom of this! First, I'd like to get a couple more details from you. What version of Storyline are you using, and what version of Microsoft Office is installed on your computer?
I have a hunch the solutions in this article might do the trick: Failed to Import PowerPoint Presentation. If you're still at this roadblock after, could you reinstall your local version of Office 365 to see if that helps?
Let us know if you need a hand – we're standing by!
It was none of the above actually. Even though my power point was locally installed and running correctly it did not register correctly. So it was reinstalled and re-registered with the code. and now it works correctly.
I did EVERY. SINGLE. ITEM. in the "Failed to Import PowerPoint Presentation post. I still can't get Storyline to import files and now both PowerPoint & Storyline balk at me everytime I go to open them because I am running as administrator. This is an issue because I am literally doing a project where I am taking PPT slides and putting them into Storyline. Any suggestions??
I'm so sorry to hear you're unable to import your PowerPoint presentation even after going through all the items in the article mentioned!
Let us lend you a hand. I've opened a case on your behalf with our support engineers and would like for us to review and help troubleshoot. Feel free to upload your PowerPoint file to the link below, and we'll get back to you once we're done testing!
I cannot speak for Bridget, but it doesn't look like we received a file from her so I do not have an update on what she was running into.
With your permission, I'd like you to share your project file with our support engineers to investigate what's happening. You can share it privately by uploading it here. It will be deleted when troubleshooting is complete.
I am having a simliar issue...unable to import PPT to Storyline. I'm on Articulate 360 and have the latest version. The ppt file is stored on the local machine. When importing the slides appear and I can click "Import". The import begins and when complete, only the NOTES from the PPT import, nothing else.
If you've gone through the article mentioned above on possible reasons why PowerPoint failed to Import, and are still running into issues importing your PowerPoint file, feel free to share it with a support engineer. They can take a closer look to see what is causing the issue!
I have the same issue with importing the PowerPoint. I read the article and did what I could. My Office 365 is reinstalled on Jun 15, 2020, and my PPT does not have a password. Still get the message " Failed to import PowerPoint".
Thanks for those clues. I'm happy to investigate this with you!
Quick Thought: Storyline 360 works with PowerPoint 2010-2019 (32-bit and 64-bit) and Office 365 (desktop apps only), but it isn't compatible with:
Office 365 web apps
Office 365 mobile apps
Click-to-run versions of Office 2010
Is your version of PowerPoint installed on your local computer? If that checks out, are you comfortable with sharing the PowerPoint file for testing? Use this upload link to share it privately.
We'll run through the import process and let you know what we find!
I had the same issue when I installed a new version of Office on my computer. I did all the updates and still the same issue. What fixed the problem was uninstalling all the old versions of office off the computer, rebooting and now everything is great.
I've had this problem intermittently, and finally was able to narrow it down to this: If I have too many applications open (especially if they are Office apps), import will fail regardless of how big or complex my PPT file is. Without changing anything and without restarting Articulate 360, but shutting down a few open apps (this time it was Excel and Word), import starts working.
So in my case the problem appears to be about available working memory.
(FYI I have the latest version of Articulate 360 and Office 365 - both updated yesterday.)
Could you add this as a potential solution in your article about this problem - if all else fails, close other apps?
Thank you so much for taking the time to share what worked for you. I'm sure other community members who find this discussion will appreciate this possible solution!

Hey Shannon,
Thanks for popping back in with some additional information.
Office 365, if using the desktop apps, is a supported version as shown in this documentation.
Are you using the online version or do you have it installed locally on your computer?
I have no issues importing from excel and that is in my office 365 subscription.
Thanks for those extra details, Shannon!
