Imported PowerPoint Slide is cut off

Jul 16, 2020

I've built course content in PowerPoint and am working on importing it into Articulate Storyline. Even when I set the story size to 1280 x 720, the same as the PowerPoint dimensions, I end up losing the bottom of the slide. Additionally, it appears as if the Beef University text, which should be centered, loses its centering.

Hello, Everyone!  ✨

I'm happy to share that we have released a new update for Storyline 360 (3.81.31200.0).

In this update, we have implemented a fix for:

  • Storyline 360 didn't always preserve text formatting when using custom slide layouts or importing PowerPoint slide masters.

As a first stepI recommend updating Storyline 360 to the latest version. Here's how:

Hi Ben,

Thank you for those screenshots. I'm hopeful we can help you sort this!

A few quick questions:

  • Was the Story Size set to match the PowerPoint slide size before or after import?
  • Are you comfortable with sharing the Articulate Package for testing? You can send it to us privately through this upload link. We'll run through the import steps, and delete the file after troubleshooting!

Hi there, April!

I appreciate you reaching out! In Ben's scenario, we connected the experience to this open issue in Storyline 360:

  • Behavior: Font sizes and text boxes in PowerPoint's slide master are resized when imported into Storyline.

Though we haven't found a general workaround, we're happy to review your file for any project-specific fixes. Simply use this private upload link:

Is there an update on this? Storyline 360 changes the paragraph spacing and font sizes when importing from PowerPoint. Both PowerPoint and Storyline are set to 4x3. This is a BIG deal as it affects every slide and we have a lot of presentations to import.

Update: I've done some more research and Storyline does not update Line Spacing with the value that is in PowerPoint. My PowerPoint had  Line Spacing = 16.88 and Storyline has Line Spacing = 20

line spacing in my PPTline spacing in Storyline after import

Hi, Randy, and welcome to E-Learning Heroes! ✨

Thank you for sharing those details and opening a support case with our engineers! I see you worked with Lianne, who logged it as a possible bug where Line Spacing when using Exactly [xx]pt will change after Importing from Powerpoint to Storyline.

We'll make sure to come back and update this discussion when we have any news. In the meantime, here's some information on how we identify and tackle bugs
