Incorporating a Pretest and a Posttest
Nov 13, 2018
I am using Articulate Storyline 360. I have read many of the various conversations here regarding pre and post tests. I used a template found in one of these conversations that uses branching to direct the student to either the pretest or the content, both tests use the same question bank, and conditions are placed to determine which test is recorded. The pretest can be taken once and, if passed, the course is complete. If the pretest is failed the student is directed to the content and then to the posttest which can be taken 3 times in order to pass. Both tests require the same passing score. Or the student can go directly to the content and then to the post test. My problem: Taking the pretest and passing successfully completes the course. Taking the content and then the post test allows 3 retakes. But taking the pretest and failing and then going to the content and then the post test retains the pretest criteria of 1 retake only. I can't figure out how to get back to post test mode once the pretest has been taken. I have included a .story file with the actual course material replaced with generic material (pre-post test). I also included the template (testingsourcearticulate). Any suggestions? Is this possible? Thanks for your help!

I found the discussion I used to create my content. Pre-Test/Post-Test Framework was submitted by Drew Pruitt along with a youtube video and the template I included above. The discussion is here: https://community.articulate.com/discussions/articulate-storyline/pre-test-post-test-framework.
The reply I recieved from Articulate Support. After applying his suggestion my content now works!
Hi Laura,
Thanks for contacting Articulate Support.
I reviewed your project file and deleted the following trigger:
http://share.articulate.team/e1865b96b25c
This causes the "x" mark to appear on the retry button after you take a pretest and 1 post test. You should now be able to take the post test up to 3 times. You can download the updated project file here:

The links do not work to show the trigger in question here. Is there a way you could show a screenshot of the trigger being highlighted or an explanation of what was found at the links?
Hi Steve,
Are you encountering an issue similar to the one Laura reported? If you need assistance with your project file, would you be willing to share a copy of it here or in private by opening a case along with a brief description of the behavior that you are encountering so we can assist you better?
