Launch in new window

Dec 10, 2019

I am trying to maximize the size of my video. I have set my story size to 1920 x 1080, and set to scale the player.

I thought maybe launching in a separate window without browser controls might make it bigger, but it is launching in another tab like it usually does.

Please let me know if I am doing something wrong (see attached screenshot for settings), and if this option will help me achieve my goal.

Thank you!!!

Hi Alison,

Thanks for reaching out and sharing what you are running into with your project.

With your permission, I'd like you to share your project file with our support engineers to investigate what's happening. You can share it privately by uploading it here. It will be deleted when troubleshooting is complete.

Good morning, Alison!

We can appreciate confidentiality and are happy to sign an NDA if that works for you and your team. Just let our Support team know! In the meantime, I'll try my best to help you maximize the video size without seeing the file.

Looking at your screenshot, your setup looks great! The Resize browser to fill screen and Scale player to fill browser window settings will enable your player and supporting browsers to take up as much screen real-estate as possible.

Could inserting the video as a Web Object work for your course? That way, you can use the standard video controls, which typically include full-screen viewing.

To clarify, by inserting the video as a Web Object, the video would have to be hosted elsewhere? That is something we are looking into, but it is a bit complicated with corporate policies and restrictions. Would that require going back to the elearning and clicking on each video? Right now the video auto-advances.

Hi there, Alison. You're right!

With the Web Object route, the video will need to be hosted elsewhere like YouTube or Vimeo. You can also check the Load web object automatically box if you want your web content to load without any interaction from learners.

Check out this sample course with that setting enabled that I mocked up!

Keep in mind that the Play Video: Automatically setting does not apply to website videos, where learners may need to click on the web videos to play them. Some browsers still allow web videos to auto-play (if the auto-play feature is enabled in the embed code), but the trend is for browsers to prevent media from auto-playing.

Hello, Alison.

I have exciting news to share!

We have just released another update for Storyline 360. In Update 67, we've included important fixes and features.

One of the features we've included is:

Adding a player toggle to let learners view courses in full-screen mode.

To take advantage of this feature, launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You'll find our step-by-step instructions here.

Please let us know if you have any questions by posting here or by reaching out to our Support Engineers directly.

Have a great day!
