Lightbox auto close

Apr 27, 2023

hello!

For the course I am creating, I am trying to lightbox a slide during the quizzes. If the user gets the question wrong, I would like to lightbox back to the slide and refer them to the correct answer, then give them a second chance to answer the question correctly.

Two things:

1) How can I get the lightbox to close automatically once the relevant information has been played? It currently just keeps playing unless I close the lightbox with the X. I have tried triggers but they do not seem to be working properly.
2) Can I have the lightbox play only a portion of the slide?

- Example: from 22 secs - 45 secs and then close.

Hi Shauna, and welcome to the E-Learning Heroes Community! So glad you're here! 🥳

Thanks so much for reaching out and sharing your .story file with us!

For your first question, I'd like to share a workaround that one of our amazing Heroes, Judy, shared in a different E-Learning Heroes Community post. She explains some navigation changes you can make in order to bypass that X button by utilizing a different design. Perhaps this could work well for your project!

To answer your second question, there isn't a way to change the size of a single Lightbox from within Storyline 360, but I’m sure one of our talented community members will have suggestions for you for any custom solutions that they've come across.

If any other questions come up, please let us know!

  1. Use the close lightbox trigger and that should close the lightbox
  2. Use the jump to trigger when timeline of slide starts and that will jump to a point in the timeline.

Here's a recording to show that it does work. I didn't look at your file, but the triggers work. However, it is always possible that there are things on the slide or other triggers that compete with the jump and close triggers. But the triggers themselves work as demonstrated in the quick video.

Hope that helps.
