Links to web pages not working
Aug 22, 2013
I have a slide in Storyline with 4 links to pages on our company's intranet (in SharePoint). The triggers to "Jump to URL/File: http://xxx" are on nearly transparent rectangles over each picture. None of the links work when it is published. The mouse pointer turns to a hand when you hover over one of the pictures indicating there is a hyperlink, but when you click, nothing happens. Here's a picture of the slide. Any ideas? Thanks!
(P.S.) The owner of this project wants it this way and not in a Resources tab.)

Hey Stephanie - I can certainly try to assist. Here is our documentation for hyperlinks in Storyline 2.
I did a brief test and my hyperlink seems to be working as expected. You can check it out here as I just used the link you shared above.
I have seen mixed security cause issue for users, so if your course is https, you may want to be sure that your hyperlink is as well.
If you have a .story file you'd like me to take a look at, feel free to share.
Hi Leslie,
I believe that I followed the hyperlink steps properly as I found that tutorial when I was troubleshooting earlier. Is there a way to share it privately? It is a document specific to my organization.
Hello Stephanie - yes, you could certainly share it here.
Looks like a case (01003061) just came through for you Stephanie and I will take a look and respond to you there.
Hi Leslie,
Thank you for your help on that. I guess where I'm having problems is the publishing portion as I followed the proper steps to add the hyperlink. You mentioned that I may be linking to a server; unfortunately, I'm fairly new to this and I don't know what that means or how to avoid the issue. When I publish the project, I save it to one of our organization's shared drives - could this be the issue? I have attached a photo of the "publish" page.
Ah, that could certainly be the issue Stephanie. We recommend saving to a local drive and you want to be sure that you are uploading the content to it's intended environment post publish. Looks like you are publishing to the web, so be sure you are uploading the zipped published output.
Here is our documentation for Storyline 1.
You are welcome to test via Tempshare as I did in your support case if you wish.
