Multi-monitor screen recording

Feb 27, 2023

Is multi-monitor screen recording still not supported in Storyline?

When I record a screencast, it's capturing my entire monitor, including the red-box recording area and everything in the background. I was using Storyline a couple of years ago, and at that time, had to unplug the 2nd monitor to do a screencast, and would have thought by now Articulate would have remedied this. Multiple monitors is a standard workspace setup at this point! I've just switched back to Articulate from Captivate and am finding now that screencasting is still clunky in Storyline, and am wondering if I'm going to have to go back to working on my little laptop screen with 2nd monitor unplugged??

Hi Mary,

Thanks for checking in on this! I'm sorry you are having an issue with recording your screen! I know how frustrating this can be. This is a bug in the software that has already been reported. I'm going to add your voice to the report. If there's any news regarding this bug, this conversation will be updated.

I understand that you've done this in past but for the time being, you'll still want to unplug your second monitor to do your screencast. This is the documented workaround for this bug.

Hi, Mary!

I have some great news to share! We just released another update for Storyline 360. In Update 77, we've included important fixes and new features.

One of the enhancements we've included:

  • Storyline 360 now supports screen recordings on primary and secondary monitors with DPI settings over 100%.

Launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer to take advantage of this update, and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You'll find our step-by-step instructions here.

Please let me know if you need additional help!
