Player Settings sticking (not changing)

Aug 16, 2021

Has anyone else encountered this?   This happens to me on "Allow Seekbar" settings and toggling between "Never Resume" and "Prompt to Resume"

I'm publishing to "LMS", Scorm 1.2, and when I change say "Never Resume" to "Prompt To Resume"  or vice versa, and then go over to the "Features" tab or the Menu, and then go back, it defaults back to what it was before, not what I changed it to.  I have to publish while looking at the screen that says "Prompt to Resume" or else it defaults back to "Never Resume" every time.  The seekbar toggle keeps doing the same thing, and it's driving me nuts.   Never had this problem before.  I'm using the latest version of Storyline 360.

Thanks for reaching out, Eric! Happy to help with this!

Are you using the Classic Player? If so, you're experiencing a bug that our team knows about and is looking into. Here's the current workaround:

  1. Switch to Modern Player (ribbon drop-down)
  2. Change Seekbar value (only two first options are compatible with Classic Player) -- do not close the dialog just yet
  3. Switch back to Classic Player
  4. Click OK

As for the On restart setting, if you click OK on the Player Properties window after choosing a setting, then reopen the Player Properties, does your selection save?

I appreciate you reporting this to us!

Thanks Becca, as long as I stay on the screen i'm on and hit "publish" right from that screen, it will publish with the correct settings.  If I hit "OK" and then go back in, it also saves.  Where it does not save is when I just toggle between the tabs.  When I do that, it just doesn't stick.  I'm able to work around it, I just have to be careful to always make sure everything is in order before publishing.  And yes, this is still using the "Classic" player.

Hi, Eric

I have great news to share!

We just released another update for Storyline 360. In Update 55, we’ve included important fixes and new features.

One of the fixes we’ve included is:

Switching between seek bar settings isn't working on the Classic Player

To take advantage of this update, launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You'll find our step-by-step instructions here.

Please let us know if you have any questions by posting here or by reaching out to our Support Engineers directly.

Hello! Thanks for posting about this. I'm facing almost the same issue. I'm trying to update the Title and add a logo on my SL360 project (Classic player). The save button doesn't seem to work and when I exit the window, the changes have not been applied. I tried your tip on changing to Modern player and making the changes, but it didn't work for me.

I have the updated version, WIN 10 user. Any other tips before I raise a support ticket?

Hello, Fredayeen.

I'm sorry to hear you're still experiencing issues with the Player Properties. Let me ask you a few questions to help troubleshoot:

  • Is this happening on one specific project or every .story file?
  • Are you working from a local hard drive? Working on a network drive can cause erratic behavior.
  • Have you attempted to repair Storyline 360? Here are the instructions.

If it happens on every file and a repair doesn't solve the issue, I'd like to connect you with one of our support engineers. You can open a case here
