Pronunciation

Sep 05, 2023

Hello everyone,

This seems so simple, yet I haven't been able to figure out how to fix it. I have a text-to-voice slide and I have the words OR (operating room) and Live (as in a live concert). I have tried making them sound like I need them to and I just can't! For OR, I tried Oh Ar and O R and it works in just one instance of the word on the slide but not the other. For live I tried lie v, and it works but it sounds weird with the V on its own. Any suggestions, please?

Thank you!

Fabi

Hi, Fabiane and Jurgen!

I have some great news to share. We just released another update for Storyline 360. In Update 83, we’ve included important fixes and new features!

One enhanced feature we’ve included:

Unlock new possibilities for text-to-speech audio. Use speech synthesis markup language (SSML) to adjust the speaking rate, modify pronunciation, emphasize words, add pauses, and more.

To take advantage of this update, launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer, and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You'll find our step-by-step instructions here!

Hello Fabiane!

Thanks for reaching out! We have heard customers share similar situations where the pronunciation of a word doesn't match the context. Unfortunately, we don't currently offer a way to adjust the pronunciation, and it sounds like you've tried the right troubleshooting steps so far! We would've also suggested changing the spelling as a way of altering the pronunciation.

I don't have any other workarounds, but we do have this logged as a feature request, which would allow customers to alter the pronunciation. I've added your name to our feature request so that we can update you if this makes it on our roadmap. I hope others will jump into this discussion and share any workarounds if they have them!
