Quiz Question Numbering in LMS

I recently created a quiz in Storyline and uploaded it to our LMS (Absorb), and when I ran the answers report it shows a very strange result in the "Question Order" field.  My quiz only has 31 questions, but the numbering in the Order field starts at 32 and goes up from there.  (See attached report.)  Does anyone have an idea why it might be doing this and how to fix it so that question 1 shows up as 1?

  • Hello Melissa!

Thank you for attaching the report. It looks like report us based on the question type and then shows in what order did the question appear for the learner. It sounds like you'd rather see the reports for questions starting at one.

Do you have a question bank in your course where the questions appear randomly? I've looked on Absorb's support website to see if there is a way to generate a report by question number, and I didn't find any resources. I'd recommend reaching out to Absorb to see if they offer a customized reporting option where you can organize the report questions in chronological order.

Please keep me updated in this discussion!

  • Thanks for the reply -

I reached out to Absorb first, actually, and they said that it was something on Articulate's side so they didn't have any suggestions as to why the numbering was all wonky.

The questions are not drawing randomly from the bank, they are all presented in the order in which they were created.  I'm not sure what you mean by the numbers appearing by question type.

I didn't have 31 questions that I deleted, so I can't understand why the first question in the queue would start at number 32?

  • Thanks for the additional information, Melissa.

I want to take a look at your project file to investigate what's happening with your permission. You can share it publicly here or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.

  • Thanks, Melissa. I received your file and replied to you privately via your support case so that we can continue working together.
