Red outline when recording a simulation
Please help! I am unable to get rid of the red outline when I record a video or simulation. Can someone help with this?

Hi Jessica!
That sounds frustrating. Have you tried to set your screen resolution to 96 DPI? That usually solves the problem.
There are instructions here on how to set your screen resolution depending which Windows Operating System you're using:
articulate-storyline-dpi-support
If you scroll a little bit down on the link above you'll see the heading: Here's how to switch to 96 DPI and it has the instructions on how to do it.

Hi, hopefully Hazels advice solves the issue.
If not, just to confirm, is the red line there after you finish recording and preview or publish your story? I only ask because there is always a red line when you record, but this line doesn't usually show up in the recording.
I'm using SL3 with standard settings and have never seen a red line appear.

Hi Jessica,
The screen shot you have attached with the red line, shows the read line appearing as you are recording the screen. I am wondering if, after you click the DONE button at the bottom and it imports the recording into storyline and you preview or publish it, if the red line is still there?

i cam certainly check to see. I’m still in preview mode. Although it still startled me because this has never happened before.

There may well be a fault, but when I record I always get the red line that indicates the boundary of my recording area, but the red line does not come through to storyline and I never see it when I publish my story.

Thanks for the screenshot. Same with Noel, I also see the red line when recording.
I'd go with what Noel suggested. Try to see if the red line still appears when you publish it.

- Does the red line appear when you finish recording and then preview or publish the project? Or, does it appear at another point?
- Could you share a screenshot of your view?
