SCORM and Reporting Scores/Completion

Aug 04, 2021

We use Success Factors for our LMS.  I have Storyline360 file with a pre-test, some content, and a post-test.  If the learner passes the pre-test, it automatically marks the course as complete in the LMS.  If they fail the pre-test, they take the course and then take the post-test until they pass.

It appears that a failed pre-test and post-test are captured, but they are not recorded in the LMS until the post-test is passed.  That said, in my testing, I have found that the SCORM Exam Detail report is capturing the attempts, but it is updating the failed records to passed along with the most recent score.

I changed a few settings around and now the LMS is not recording failed attempts at all.

Has anyone done this successfully and would mind to share what completion/tracking settings they used for both the two tests and the course itself?

Hi, Melissa.

Thank you for reaching out!

I wanted to share an article that explains how to track multiple completion criteria (such as a pre-check / post-check):

I also recommend that you test your project with SCORM Cloud. Check out this step-by-step article!

If it works as expected in SCORM Cloud, I advise you to reach out to Success Factors for troubleshooting and information on their preferred options.

If you still see the same behavior in SCORM Cloud, my recommendation would be to open a support case here, so we can take a closer look at your settings.

Let me know if this works!

We do not have access to SCORM cloud.  I did set the course up according to those instructions.  So am I correct to understand that Storyline will only send results at the completion of the course (when one of the tests is passed) and only the final score will be recorded (not all of the scores).  Because we can see the various attempts in the SCORM Exam Detail report we can pull in Success Factors but all of the attempts seem to update to whatever the final score was.

Hi Melissa,

Only one option gets sent to the LMS, even if a learner completes multiple criteria.

The first tracking option that the learner completes is the one that gets sent to the LMS.

If you need us to take a look or help with testing in another environment, please share your project file with our support engineers. You can share it privately by uploading it here. It will be deleted when troubleshooting is complete.

I'm attaching an image to show you what I mean.  I understand that only one tracking option gets recorded, however Articulate sends over all of the collected info to the LMS which appears in the report once one of the quizzes is successfully passed.  In the image attached, the pre-test was failed with a score of 50%.  The post-test was passed with a score of 90%.  When it came over to the LMS we can see both attempts and what the learner answered is marked as correct or incorrect, however the score/status shows 90%/passed instead of 50%/failed for the pre-test.

Is that expected behavior?  Does it not pass the actual score for the pre-test over as well?

Hi Melissa,

That's correct! Pre-tests are good for allowing the user to test out of a course and keep a record of it only if they pass. The article below shares more on pre-checks:

If the learner passes, their score gets reported to your LMS, and they don’t have to take the rest of the course. If the learner fails the pre-check, their score doesn’t get reported to your LMS, and the learner must take the course and a final quiz, which gets reported to your LMS.

I hope this helps clarify the behavior!
