Scrom Course Freezing

Aug 10, 2021

We have our customers facing the issue with course freezing.

Our LMS is Moodle 3.6 the course freezing happens randomly not on any particular slide as well,
currently, all I am doing is reset the user progress so that the user can start from fresh.

can I know what would be the reason for this course freezing issue.

Hard to diagnose without a file to look at,

It would be a good idea to look through your course to optimize all on-screen media (images, audio/video, etc.). While Storyline does a pretty good job of optimizing on publish, it still reduces file sizes to optimize at slide level.

Other than that, I'd look at what version of SCORM you're publishing to. Especially if you have a lot of quizzing, long variable names, and many other factors, publishing to SCORM 1.2 might not have enough room in SCORM's suspend_data to store the data. Suggest trying publishing to SCORM 2004 3rd Edition (or 4th Edition if you're LMS supports it).

Hi Adrian,

Thanks for reaching out! Along with Scott's tips, you can test your course in a different environment, such as SCORM Cloud, to see if you run into similar behavior.

If it works well in SCORM Cloud, the problem could be LMS-related and worth reaching out to Moodle for ideas.

Our support team can also lend a hand with testing if you'd like. Simply share the .story file with us here, and we'll get back to you after we're done digging in!
