Slider issue - resetting back to 0 position

Aug 01, 2021

I have a simple slider with 2 images.

The slide loads with image A and the slider in position 0. When you slide the slider into position 1, image A slides off the screen, and image B slides on. When I click the slider back into position 0, image B slides off the screen and image A slide back on. Then when I slide the slider back into position 1, image B comes back on screen but the slide automatically goes back to position 0.

I am using layers, so when you slide the slider to position 1, a layer pops up for 1 second that had an animated outro to look like the images are sliding off the screen. Im not sure if that is what is causing the issue or what. It seems pretty straight forward when you look at the file, so i am not sure why it is behaving this way. Would anyone have time to look and give me some pointers?

I am a little confused with your design as you are using so many slider, I am sure there is a more elegant design to achieve this.

You sliders are all different, in my view it would be better to just have one slider on the base layer, if not assign them all to the same variable, there is no need to replicate all the text on every  layer as it just gives you 5 places to make edits and will give some additional work for accessibility

I tried this w one slides on the main timeline with layers, but the problem was/is, I am unable to make actions on the layers with the sliders on the main timeline. Is there a work around for this? See attached - I am now using one slider, but I am only able to use the slider once now properly and then it starts acting strange.

Hi, Shawna.

Thank you for sharing your .story file!

How do you envision the slide to work? Your triggers seem to be working as expected, but I'm not sure what your end goal is.

  • You have a slider that starts at 0 and ends at 1.

  • On your base layer, you have a trigger to show layer out 2 when the slider moves to value 1.
  • Layer out 2 automatically shows layer slide2, which sets the slider to value 1.
    • Since the slider is already on value 1, did you mean to set it to 0 instead, so the slider can be reset?

Let me know what you're looking to accomplish, and I'm happy to offer suggestions!
