Storyline Characters Won't Download: Orange Circle with Exclamation Point

I have tried downloading character assets both on and off of the company VPN. I have also tried as many solutions as possible from this 2017 thread.

My company's tech support has remoted in to try a few things, too, and we just can't get access to any characters.

The diagnostic log says this for any character I try to add to my training:

[11:31:09] Download failed: https://api.articulate.com/content-pass/characters/423-sarah-business-casual/download v1; Unable to read data from the transport connection: The connection was closed.

It looks like your network settings isn't properly configured to allow connections to the endpoints needed by Articulate 360 to run properly. You'll need to reach out to your IT staff and have them make sure that you can connect to the endpoints in this article: 

You'll need to be able to connect to these endpoints when working with or without a VPN connection. If you're IT staff has already added the endpoints to your network configuration's allowlist, please open a case with our support team here so we can take a look at your installation's diagnostic logs to figure out what's happening.
