Sudden issues with Helvetica font

Oct 28, 2022

I'm having issues with a few Storyline 360 files I've been working on for a while suddenly showing Helvetica font as very thin, and spaced differently. These are Storyline files that I have been accessing and saving with no issues in the last few months.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling my Helvetica and Helvetica Neue font families, with no improvement. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling Storyline 360. So far the only change I've seen has been uninstalling all of my Helvetica fonts and only reinstalling Helvetica and Helvetica Bold. Now, my main body text is showing somewhat correctly, but not changing to bold when I select bold within Storyline 360. Also, I have some titles at the top of my slide coming from master slides that use Helvetica, but are still showing too thin.

I've had one of my colleagues try opening the same files and they see that the text is showing thin as well, but after unselecting and reselecting Helvetica in the font menu, it goes back to how it should look (this doesn't work for me).

I have also tried publishing to Review 360 as well as an LMS and the issue is still there. I copied and pasted the text into Microsoft Word to make sure it wasn't just my computer, but it shows up normal there as well.

The last thing I tried was reverting to an older version of Storyline 360 and nothing seems have changed after doing that.

The only other thing I can think of worth mentioning is I am using Windows 11, though I have been using it for a few months now with no issues.

I've attached some screenshots!

Hi Heather,

Thanks for reaching out and including those helpful screenshots. Thank you for sharing that you've gone through the steps of uninstalling and re-installing the fonts.

Do you happen to notice a difference if you turn on or turn off Modern Text in the DesignFonts dropdown menu?

We'd be happy to take a look at your .story file and investigate further. You can share your file in this thread or privately in a support case.

Hope this helps!
