Is there a way to select all of the same character in a story and swap them all at the same time to a new character? I need to change out the old illustrated character to a modern character (in Storyline 360), and I'm doing it slide by slide. It seems there should be a way to do them all at once...
Unfortunately, if you've already placed characters on multiple slides, you'll need to modify each of those characters. I can certainly see how a feature that would allow you to change all the characters at once would make your life easier! Can you please share your perspective with our product development team? I have the same issue as Susan. I need to replace a character across entire e-Learning which has about 30-40 slides. Changing it slide by slide will take forever. Also what if client changes mind?
Sure there should be smarter way to do it. like a smart object in Adobe. I am interested to know more. let me know
I agree, there is no feature in Storyline 360 to replace characters at once.
Here's what I do. I tried to replace multiple images at once by replacing images files after published. In the picture shown below, I copy the filename of the generated image and delete the file, then rename Picture4.png with the generated filename on the left.
This is taken directly from the details you provided.
For photographic characters, you can replace individual poses, but you can’t replace an entire character group and all of its poses simultaneously.
This is what people want that your software doesn’t provide. Your users are quite aware of how to use google to find a solution if one exists, so this return email of yours Leslie seems a little insulting in that it didn’t answer the discussion thread at all
The process is slow and cumbersome:
* Click on character
* Choose replace, list of all characters comes up
* Scroll through all characters OR use filters
* Find character
* Find pose
* Double click
* Done! Yay
* Click on character (same one that needs to be replaced but from next slide)
* Choose replace, list of all characters comes up
* Scroll through all characters OR use filters
* Find character
* Find pose
* Double click
* Done! Yay
* 2 slides down
* 48 to go 😊
Nope not efficient

Although not as simple as replace character the media library solution is quicker than working through each slide.
Enhancements to the media library are always being added, I am sure this thread will be added to any feature requests that have been made for this enhancement.
Storyline 360 doesn't offer the option to swap one character on multiple slides for another character. We still have this logged with our team but have prioritized other features for upcoming releases. If our team decides to reroute, we'll be sure to update this discussion.

I agreed having this feature would be ideal. I noticed on the most up to date feature roadmap there is nothing listed for Storyline 360 is there another place I should be referencing that product?

This is a necessary feature of ALL presentations ie using one presentation as a template and building new ones

You can swap the assets, including characters, in your course using Storyline 360.
