Symbols reverting to text within Storyline

Jan 23, 2022

Hi all,

I'm currently working on an eLearning module that contains a huge amount of mathematical symbols.

Due to the font choice, the ≥ logo was appearing a lot larger than < so we had to think of a work around.

I was advised that inserting a symbol, instead of a text version, would rectify this, so I spent a considerable amount of time replacing each occurrence with a symbol using the symbol feature in Storyline. (I couldn't use find and replace as SL won't allow this with symbols from the symbol feature, only with text)

I've now gone back into the file and the style has gone back to the original style in the awkward font, and not the generic symbol style it was when it first changed.

Is this right? I wish I knew this was going to happen, it would've saved me a considerable amount of time.

Thanks for reaching out, and I'm sorry for the extra work this has caused!

I want to make sure I understand your setup, so I have a few follow up questions:

  • Do you see the incorrect font in story view, when you preview the project or after publishing?
  • I'm curious to know what font you are using in your project to try to replicate this behavior.
  • Were the symbols imported into Storyline, or were they created in Storyline?

If you can share the .story file with us, we'd be happy to dig in further—just click here!
