I need to add total time spent in a module on to a final slide. Is there anyway to add how long a user has been in a module? Our LMS does this but ideally I need it to display in Storyline first....
There isn't a total time count, since Storyline is interactive it's all dependent on the user and how much time it takes them to navigate through a slide. You can gauge an estimate of total time based on how long the slide timeline is and Storyline does a calculation of this as a part of the publish settings detailed here:
Thanks Ashley, I often use that feature for calculating approximate time. What I need in this instance is to tell them exactly how long they have been in the module, not an estimate.
I wondered if you could set up a variable that continually updates itself for each second that the tutorial is in use. Then show it at the start of the last slide?
Ah, thanks Suzanne for the clarification. I'll defer to the community, as there isn't a way to track this in Storyline other than the item I mentioned.
I came across a solution for your problem and built a tutorial to demonstrate how it should work. Unfortunately I couldn't get to code to work, though I'm sure it's close and a Hero can get it working for you. Demo here
Thank you for your response. It works and that's brilliant. There's a whole lot more js code in there too for me to ponder over. Hopefully Suzanne can make use of it too.
Thank you for the link to the article, however, the tutorial and demo links
do not appear to be working. Is there anywhere else that this information
is available?
I do not see that information shared in another discussion. You might consider reaching out to Matthew Bibby directly to see if he has shared the tutorial and demo links in another form.

Bruce, a partial solution is better than nothing at all, so thanks for popping in to share.
Hi Bruce,
The screenshot you have used was from my blog post. I am sorry to hear that the code not worked for you.
Attached is the file with updated code. Hope this helps you.
Hello Satish,

Thanks.
Thanks for your input, Satish! :)
Is there a way to do this now?
Hello Eduhero Account!
I found a discussion that walks through how to display the time spend using Javascript. Here's the link!
Keep us updated on what you create!
