Tracking the Number of Slides Viewed for Completion

Jun 28, 2021

My question is a rather technical one. When using "tracking progress and completion using the number of slides viewed," is this tracking data saved in the suspend_data?

For instance, if I have a Storyline 3 course with 85 slides and at about slide number 80 the course overruns the LMS's suspend_data limit, would the student still be marked as completing the course when they reach slide 85.

I ask because our customer's LMS runs SCORM 1.2 and is requesting more and more complex training courses.

Hello Ken!

Great question! Yes, the learner's progress on slides viewed is stored within suspend_data.

In your example, the learner would still be marked as completing the course when they reach Slide 85 if the course overruns the LMS's suspend_data limit at Slide 80. Suspend_data is only used for suspending and resuming the course. However, the only impact of overrunning the LMS's suspend_data limit at Slide 80 is that if the learner suspends and resumes the course after Slide 80, they will likely resume back to Slide 80. Overrunning the suspend_data limit should not have any impact on recording completion.
