True/False variable & changing states

Nov 21, 2013

Hi,

I've done this before and it worked but now suddenly it's no longer working in more than one course.

I have a checkmark on a slide. Initial state is hidden. T/F variable used to indicate whether a particular slide or section has been completed. (I've checked (using Reference) to make sure the variable is changing from False to true & it is).

So, the checkmark trigger is set to change state of checkmark when variable changes on condition that the variable is true.

The variable is showing as true but the state of the check mark isn't changing. Again, this isn't the only course; I had another one where it was working and then suddenly didn't.

Thanks.

I see this is an old thread, but it looks like @Amanda never got her answer?  I am having the same issue.  Also with a checkmark not showing up. Also have references showing "true" and also have used this in a different course where it worked.  I am not sure resetting to initial state means or if that worked?

Hi All - I'm new to Articulate 360 and to this forum, but this is the exact problem I'm having. I followed the tutorial exactly on setting my true/false variables up and then set up a check mark to appear when the variable is true. I've verified that the variable is working correctly with a reference inserted and that's all working well. I've tried to create a new state of the module title with a check mark added after it and I've tried to just add a check mark as a separate triggered item like Amanda did in this thread. I've not been able to get either one to work. I've tried Wendy's suggestion above and that didn't make a difference.

Any suggestions?

Hi Leslie,

Thank you for responding, but I had put in a case and got my answer. I'll share the video I got as a help because it's a little confusing to explain, but was super helpful.

Hi all,

I too am having the same T/F issue outlined above. I have set and tested a variable (with reference) to change the state of a checkmark to appear, however it is not working. To test it I have a reference on the slide and created a second trigger on the slide to ensure its set up correctly. I have tested the slide as 'reset to initial state', 'resume to saved state' and 'automatically decide'.

It looks like the video above is no longer available. Can anyone let me know what I am doing wrong?

Thank you both for responding. I was able to get support for this issue. For those that find themselves with a similar issue next time, my mistake was the variable adjusted on a slide and I wanted the variable to change the state of an item on another. I needed to add a trigger to do so on the same slide.

"To achieve the desired interaction, you would need to add a trigger to change the state of the checkmark to selected when the timeline starts on the slide if the variable is equal to true."
