Updating Accessible Hyperlinks
I'm using the current Storyline 3 Build (12:3.12.24693) and have a question about inserting new hyperlinks into old stories.
In the past, I have added shapes over text in order to create hyperlinks that are recognizable by Focus Order (Tab Order). It is my understanding that with the new build you don't have to create these shapes any further and just insert the text/hyperlinks. When I create a text box from scratch and insert a hyperlink, that hyperlink is recognized when Tabbing and using a Screen Reader. For past stories, I remove the current hyperlink shape/text and insert a new hyperlink. However, the new hyperlink is not recognized when using Focus Order and/or the Tab key. The new link is active and recognized using a mouse, but not by keyboard navigation/screen reader. Is there a setting I need to update or process I need to change in order for new hyperlinks to be recognized on an older storyline course (.story)? Thank you
Hi Kevin!
I'm happy to help! Unfortunately, I do not see the same on my end with hyperlinks. I've added a hyperlink to a line of text and used the Tab key to jump to the hyperlink.
Here's a quick 2-minute demo of my testing.

Hi Lauren!
Thank you for the demo. I am still having issues. Attached is a one-page story with two links from a previous project and a third new link. I removed the shapes (that had the hyperlink trigger) and made the link using the hyperlink text style and Insert>Hyperlink. I also added a new third link (Google Link). When I use the Tab key, it goes directly to "Skip Navigation" and does not recognize the links. However, each link works when using a mouse. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
Hello Kevin!
Thank you for sharing your project! I noticed the same behavior with the slide as the focus went straight to the skip navigation button. I copied the last two bullet points with hyperlinks and pasted them on another slide to see if the focus went to the hyperlinks when they were not attached to the larger text box. Surprisingly, they were highlighted, so I copied the text from the second slide and replaced the last two bullet points. I wish it were a more eloquent troubleshooting process other than copying and pasting, but it did the trick!
I've attached the updated project to this reply.
