When does a learner complete a Quiz?

Hi there,
I am building a Storyline module where the grade from the quiz will be sent to the Gradebook as part of a student's mark, so I really want to understand this functionality.
Right now, under the Reporting tab, I have selected: When the learner completes a quiz
When does a quiz get "completed"?
If a students goes in and answers 1 of 10 questions, will that be completed?
If a student answers 9 of 10 questions and views (but doesn't submit an answer for the final question), will that be complete?
I ask because I used a test student to answer 2 questions and leave. This score wasn't sent to the Gradebook. I went in and answered 9 questions and left. This score was recorded. I just want to be as clear with what constitutes an attempt.
Any help is appreciated!

Hello Marissa!
Great question! A learner will complete the quiz when the results are submitted. By default, the results slide has a trigger to "Submit Results when the timeline starts on this slide."
If you'd like the quiz to be marked as completed at a different time, you can add this trigger to another slide or layer!

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, our learners never navigate to the Results slide. It's in a separate scene that they can't access. This has never been an issue and results are still pushing to the LMS.
Is there another thing that might be triggering the quiz completion? We also don't use "Slides Viewed" or "Completion" as reporting options either. Just "When the learner completes the quiz"

Since you mentioned that the user never reaches the Result Slide, I assume that you have a custom setup.

Hi @Lauren, if a learner completes a quiz but fails, will the course be marked complete in this case? I mean, when a learner completes a quiz is selected under the Reporting tab.

A passing score is set for each result slide that you add to your course:
If you're tracking your course completion using a quiz result, your learners will get a failed/incomplete mark in an LMS if they do not meet the passing score requirements for the course. Take note that this will also be dependent on which reporting settings you select when you publish your course.
