white edge around text after making the background transparant

Oct 17, 2021

I had an image with text and white background. I made that background transparent, but there was still a slight white edge around my text. How do I get rid of that little white edge? I have included a picture. Thank you.

Hi, Margo,

The white (and gray) parts around the text are caused by anti-aliasing, that is, the blending of the black text into the white background to provide smooth looking edges. To get rid of those edges in that image, you'd either have to manually erase them or recolor them black, as necessary.

Fortunately, there's a better and much quicker way to get what you want.

  • Set up the text in PowerPoint using text boxes and shapes as needed.
  • Select all the items.
  • Right click, and then select "Save as Picture..."
  • Follow the standard procedure for naming and saving the file.
    • Be sure to save it as a .PNG or an .EMF so its background will be transparent.
