A moving carousel menu. How would you do it?

Hi everyone. I wanted to create a menu that resembles this one: https://www.mgmotor.com.mx/fv/#

I created one with four buttons, using 8 layers, each with specific motion paths. See the result in https://app.cloud.scorm.com/sc/InvitationConfirmEmail?publicInvitationId=2426d601-de79-4cae-b2dd-318c42b66792

It works ok, but I wonder what other solutions would the members of this community apply.

Thanks

Daniel

  • Daniel, your question inspired me to tinker a bit. I came up with the example below, made with some JS and GSAP. I thought it would be well suited to this idea. I will post additional information in the coming days, when I have time to clean the project up a little.

Essentially this example just uses four images as menu items and a shape path (an ellipse here). Very easy to build into your slide once you include the script and a few variables. You can use any number of menu items, and various shapes or even freeform drawings for the menu path.

    Try it: https://360.articulate.com/review/content/8d068aaf-bab1-4f8f-b676-d5437397b057/review

  • It looks good. Remember, nothing you create in digital format has to do what you want; it only has to look like it does it. So from a user standpoint, there is really nothing that would improve the result that you have. However, there is one other consideration. If this method is difficult to repeat or scale, you may be asking for an easier method of getting the same result, and that can be accomplished only by looking at the .story file.

My personal opinion is that given what you have, I would subscribe to the "If is isn't broken, don't fix it" theory.  I think It would be easier to change out the objects on the layers than to redesign it.

Thanks for your feedback, Walt. Let me share the .story, so you can examine it (if it is possible, of course). I think my solution is somewhat easy to repeat if I want to add one or two buttons, but more buttons would be difficult. Maybe adding gifs that simulate the movement? Variables?

I´m curious if more advanced users would apply a more practical solution.

      Thanks!
