A True Test Out Option?
Hi everyone,
My colleagues and I are looking into the skip ahead functionality in Rise. We have yearly compliance education in our org and often, more seasoned employees Essentially, we'd like an option for learners to take a pre-test at the beginning of the course. If they pass, then the module is marked as completed and they can close out of the course. If they fail, they then have to review more content and take a separate quiz to pass. I've played around with all of the settings, and I can't figure out a way to do this. Am I missing something or is this not possible as I've written it out?

As with most of the things we do, there are several possible ways. You could have the pre-test as a separate item in your LMS, for instance, that grants credit for the requirement. If failed, it says, "You can't try this competency test again for a year. Instead, take course ABC123 and pass its final exam."
You could have an evaluation in the Storyline course that, if passed uses a trigger to set the course to Complete. Otherwise, it continues into the actual content, then on to the final exam.
As I understand it, the new skip ahead feature in Rise does what you want. Well, except a user who passes the pretest does have to advance somewhere, but that could be a final lesson with just a summary and/or "you're done!" message.

Unfortunately, it's not clear exactly what data is sent to the LMS with this option or what it's tracking for completion...
Storyline is more obvious about tracking courses with pretests.
Or, as CarlFink1 mentioned, the pretest could be a separate SCORM package that's connected to the course content within the LMS. The LMS would just require that one of the packages is successfully completed.
