Accessibility checker specifically for Storyline/eLearning courses
Hello eLearning Community!
Is there an accessibility checker made specifically to test Storyline/eLearning courses? I've tried Accessibility Insights and WAVE but it seems those were made to test a normal website. A Storyline output is an HTML5 file but it is a self-contained product, not a website.
Thanks!
Hello everyone,
I have some great news to share! We just released another update for Storyline 360. In Update 100, we have included essential fixes and new features. One of the new features we’ve included is:
- Improve the accessibility of your content. Get actionable feedback based on key WCAG guidelines to instantly identify barriers like missing closed captions and disabled course playback speed.
Launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer to take advantage of this update, and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You’ll find our step-by-step instructions here.
Please let me know if you need additional help.

Hi, Everyone.
In addition to posting requests here, make sure to amplify the need for Articulate product managers and designers to get on board with prioritizing accessibility features on the roadmap.
Dealing with the queue of big fixes seems to take priority -- which is understandable -- but might have the effect of bumping accessibility issues further down the the roadmap and impacting how long it will take to get these features figured out.
Identify and contact your Articulate reps to push the message:
- Your specific Commmercial Account Executive
- Your specific Customer Success Manager
- The specific Product Developer who works with your Customer Success Manager
We want to recommend Articulate products to our colleagues at our institution, but we are unable to do that currently because it's too easy to create inaccessible content with both Storyline and Rise.

Upvote an automated accessibility checker. My organization is struggling to support Storyline as a tool without having the ability to automate accessibility. Please add to timeline sooner rather than later.

Any updates on the development of this checker in the Articulate tools?
Hi Holly,
I have no updates to share yet, but you'll be among the first to know once this feature is available. Thanks for following up!

Has there been any advance on this? Being able to tell clients that we have checked the course for accessibility with such a tool as well as making it screenreader-usable is becoming more and more necessary.
