Add custom bullets to the bullet drop down menu

We are replacing a lot of dot-type bullets with arrows from the Webding symbols list, and making them orange. Is there a way to insert that symbol into the standard bullet menu?

    Hi Rick,

Hope you're doing well, how are you replacing the dot-type bullets with arrows? do you manually delete them and key in the symbols one by one?

We can define a bullet in Storyline 360 by doing this:

    • Insert a Text Box
    • Home > Bullets Drop-down > Bullets and Numbering... > Symbol
    • Here you'll be able to select from different fonts such as Webdings, Wingdings, Wingdings 2 etc..,

After you select the symbol you wish to use, clicking "Insert" will bring you back to Bullets and Numbering window where you can customize the size and color of your new bullet.

    Hope this helps

    Thank you,
    Joseph

  • The problem for me is that it doesn't seem to be possible to save the new bullet anywhere, but I have to insert it separately every time, which is annoying and time consuming. Suggestions how to solve that?

This does not appear to have ever been changed. 6 years later, I don't see a way to save the new bullet anywhere.

  • Hi Margita,

That would make an excellent feature request! I'll let our team know you'd like to have a way to add a custom symbol to the bullets list and select that symbol as the default bullet. Thanks for reaching out!

Yes, I would very much like to see it possible to add symbols as bullets that can be quickly selected from the bullet drop-down list, so you don't have to do it manually every time. I STRONGLY agree with Margita!  It takes a lot of extra time to have to do this every time you need to apply a custom bullet, whereas it would be much quicker if you could add it to your bullet style list.

Thank you.  We are hoping for this feature, too.  (Needed, yes.)

  • Thanks, Bruce for sharing your thoughts here and we'll keep you posted if this is added as a feature to Storyline.

Has there been an update on making a symbol a permanent drop down selection in bullets?

      Hi P,

Thank you for reaching out about this request! Our team is continuing to track this feature, but I'd love to have you share more thoughts with our team here

We will be sure to provide any updates we can share as we have more details to share!

  • In the meantime...

To save yourself from repeating the steps to make a custom bullet every time, do this:

    • Add a "storage" scene to your project with one slide.
    • On that slide, create a text box with the custom bullets you want to use.
    • As you develop the actual course, copy & paste the bullets from storage wherever you need them. Then edit their text.
    • When the course is done, delete the storage scene.
