Advice needed for presentation this week, Layer do not show.

Hi

I have tried everything in my power to show a layer at the end of my interaction. It should be quite simple, but somehow it does not work.

Here is the simple setup:

I have 7 tab interactions that show individual layers when clicked. Simple.

I have 7 visited states for each tab. Simple.

I have a trigger "Show Next button when state of my tabs is visited". Simple

BUT, then I have a 8 layer that should show when "Show layer 8 when all of my tabs is visited".  It is just a simple textbox that I would like to pop-up AND STAY on the screen until user clicks "Next". Not simple...When I run a preview and click the last of my tabs interactions, the layer 8 shows for a split second and then disappears. Why can't I have that layer 8 (textbox) stay on screen. I am clearly doing something wrong, or miss something.

Can someone please help me explaining this? All the best

  • When the final tab is clicked/Visited, two triggers run: the trigger that shows the Attention layer and the trigger that shows the layer associated with that button. Based on your description, the program runs them in that order, because, well, because that's how Storyline is programmed.

Here's what I suggest you do instead:

    • Move the object from the Attention layer to the base of the slide, and then delete the Attention layer.
    • Set the Initial state of the attention object to Hidden.

    • Add a trigger that changes the state of the Attention object to Normal when all of the tabs are visited.

I will do that, that will work for sure. Many thanks for your time helping me.

I am still a little puzzled though, why I can't make it work, even if I set the attention trigger as the last trigger, it still won't stay.

    Again, thank you Judy

    All the best

    Glenn

  • Hi Glenn,

I'm glad that you're getting excellent help from Judy!

It would be helpful to see the Storyline file so we can look closely at how the objects and triggers are set up. Do you mind attaching your project to this discussion or privately in a support case? We'll delete it when we're done!
